Shioli Kutsuna
Description
Shioli Kutsuna, also known as Shiori Kutsuna, is a Japanese-Australian actress. She was born in Sydney, Australia on December 22, 1992. She moved to Japan as a teenager and began her entertainment career after winning a special jury prize at the 11th Japan Bishōjo Contest in 2006. While she is primarily known for her extensive work in live-action films and television dramas, her career includes notable contributions to voice acting for major animated projects and video games.
Kutsuna's voice acting credits include the role of Neri in the 2012 Japanese-language dub of the animated film The Life of Guskou Budori. She is also known for providing the voice of Lunafrena Nox Fleuret in the Japanese-language version of the 2016 feature-length CG film Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, which serves as a companion piece to the video game Final Fantasy XV. In this film, she voiced the Oracle, a central character in the story’s conflict. It is important to note that while Kutsuna voiced Lunafrena in Kingsglaive, a different actress provided the voice for the character in the Final Fantasy XV video game itself.
In addition to her work in fully animated projects, Kutsuna has performed live-action roles that are closely associated with anime and manga adaptations. She played the role of Maho Minami in the 2010 live-action film adaptation of the manga Beck. She also portrayed the character Ran Mori in several live-action television dramas based on the Detective Conan franchise, including Shinichi Kudo's Written Challenge and the series Detective Conan: Shinichi Kudo and the Kyoto Shinsengumi Murder Case.
More recently, Kutsuna has expanded her voice and performance capture work into the video game medium. Director Hideo Kojima announced in early 2025 that Kutsuna had completed her work for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which involved 3D scanning, performance capture, English ADR, and Japanese voice recording for her role in the game. Her career includes recognition in the form of awards for her acting, including a Japan Academy Film Prize for Newcomer of the Year for her performances in the films Unforgiven and The Evening of a Certain Day.
