Saburō Kamei was a Japanese voice actor born on April 3, 1938, in Hokkaido, Japan. He was affiliated with the talent agency 81 Produce for a significant portion of his career, having previously been with Nine Production. His real name was Kamei Tooru. He passed away on September 9, 2013, at the age of 75.

Kamei's career as a voice actor spanned from the late 1960s until 2013, with his activity in anime beginning around 1976. He built a prolific body of work over four decades, taking on a wide variety of supporting roles in numerous television anime series, original video animations (OVAs), and animated films.

His repertoire included several notable roles in the mecha genre. He voiced Albert Killy in the 1985 OVA Armored Trooper Votoms: The Last Red Shoulder, a role he also played in the original Armored Trooper VOTOMS television series. He provided the voice of Nokio in the 1983 compilation film Document Fang of the Sun Dougram. In the 2005 series Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor, he voiced the character Hamilcar Barcas. He also played the role of Davey in the series Giant Gorg, the role of Tadasumi in the 1990 OVA Sword for Truth, and the role of Katō in the 2003 special Tako ni Natta Okaasan.

Other significant parts across his long career included the dual roles of Dongyue Dadi and Mephisto I in the series Akuma-kun. He was also known for voicing Placido Russo in Baccano!, Dragon in Fist of the North Star, Keiun in Mobile Fighter G Gundam, and Glaeser in Legend of the Galactic Heroes. His film work included a role in the seventh Detective Conan movie, Crossroad in the Ancient Capital, where he voiced Shouzou Sakura.

Kamei worked extensively in the industry for more than four decades, leaving behind a legacy of character roles that enriched many classic and beloved anime series.
