Ju Jayeong

Description
Ju Jayeong is a South Korean voice actress known for her work in anime dubbing. Born on April 17, 1972, she graduated from Seoul National University with a degree in Sociology. She joined the CJ ENM Voice Actor Association as part of its 5th class in March 2003 and worked as an exclusive voice actor until 2006, after which she continued on a freelance basis until 2009.

Ju Jayeong is recognized for her distinctive low-pitched, husky voice, which is uncommon among female voice actors. This unique vocal quality led to her being cast in a range of roles, often portraying male characters or supporting figures. Among her most notable roles are Choji Akimichi in both Naruto and Naruto Shippūden, Doji Ibaragi in Tactics, Cha Sihyeok, the Korean name for Natsume Hyuuga, in Gakuen Alice, and Luise in ZOIDS: Chaotic Century.

Her other significant anime roles include Ms. Jin in Chrono Crusade, Dominique, Elena, Cheryl Robbins, and Merille in Kaleido Star, Rebecca in Haré+Guu, Mari Tsuyuki in Nanaka 6/17, and various roles in Detective Conan and Sgt. Frog. She also appeared in Rave Master as Emilia Raregroove and Lasagne, and in GTO as Yoko Sato and other minor characters. Her work extended beyond animation to include video games, such as providing the voice for female Tauren characters in the Korean version of World of Warcraft.

Following a period of declining activity in animation after 2006, when her roles were increasingly filled by other voice actors, she focused primarily on commercial voice-over work. Her last known performances were around 2009, and she has since been considered effectively retired from voice acting, though she maintains contact with former colleagues in the industry.
