Rui Quintas is a Portuguese voice actor, born on December 20, 1971, in Barreiro, Portugal. In addition to his work in animation, he has a background as a stage actor, television actor, and theatre director, having studied acting at the Instituto de Formação Investigação e Criação Teatral (IFICT).
Quintas is most widely recognized for his extensive work in the European Portuguese dubs of popular anime series. His most enduring and prominent roles are in the Pokémon anime, where he has been a staple of the dub since the third season. He is known for voicing the characters Brock and James, a role he held consistently without being replaced. His contributions to the series also include voicing Professor Oak and taking on the role of the Narrator beginning with the Master Quest season. Alongside fellow voice actor Sandra de Castro, he is considered one of the longest-running voice actors in the Portuguese dub of the franchise.
Beyond Pokémon, Quintas has voiced numerous characters in other major anime series. He played several distinct roles in the Portuguese dub of Sonic X, including Big, Bocoe, Espio, and Mr. Tanaka.
