Description
Vic Chao is an American actor and voice actor known for his work in film, television, video games, and anime. He was born in Chicago and graduated from Stanford University with a degree in mechanical engineering. Before pursuing acting, he worked developing medical devices in the Chicago area. Chao is also a gymnast and martial artist, with a background that includes performing as the Chicago Bulls mascot, competing on American Gladiators, and working as a crowd-entertainer and slam-dunker for the LA Clippers.

In anime and animated productions, Chao has provided voices for a range of characters. As noted, he voiced the character Xiao Liu in the Netflix anime series Great Pretender, appearing in episodes eighteen through twenty-three, as well as a customs inspector named Komada in episode fifteen. His other anime voice work includes the role of Egs in the original net animation Yakitori: Soldiers of Misfortune and the character Sakyo in the live-action adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho. He also voiced Chiu in the Netflix Mexican-inspired anime series Seis Manos and has lent his voice to animated projects such as Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as Boss Bruce and Young Justice as Doctor Moon.

Chao has a significant presence in video game voice acting, often in projects with strong ties to anime aesthetics and storytelling. He is particularly well-known for his long-standing collaboration with the Mortal Kombat franchise, voicing characters including Kenshi Takahashi, Goro, Sektor, and Triborg in multiple installments such as Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 1. He also has a recurring role as Tseng in the English versions of Final Fantasy VII Remake, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Other notable video game credits include Zin Vathek in The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak, Renji Honda in the Judgment series, and roles in games like Sleeping Dogs and BioShock Infinite.

Beyond voice acting, Chao has appeared extensively in live-action film and television. His on-screen roles include appearances in the series 24, Grey's Anatomy, and Criminal Minds, as well as the film Ready Player One, where he played the character Goro.
