Eleni Kelakos
Description
Eleni Kelakos is an American actress, singer, songwriter, and voice artist known for her work in anime dubbing during the 1990s. Her career as a performer began early, as she participated in variety shows and school musicals while traveling through Europe and the Middle East with her family. She would go on to double major in Theatre and Semiotics at Brown University before embarking on a professional acting career in New York and Los Angeles.
In the realm of English-language anime dubbing, Kelakos is recognized for her contributions to several prominent productions from the era. One of her major voice roles came with the science fiction comedy series Dirty Pair. She also performed voice work for the supernatural horror OVA series 3x3 Eyes. While sometimes credited with the role of Lee Ling-Ling, the character roster for the English dub credits her as the voice of Mrs. Wong in that production, with other actors such as Joyce Kurtz and Susan Chesler providing the voice for Ling-Ling in different versions. She is also credited for her voice role in the anime film 3x3 Eyes: Legend of the Divine Demon. Beyond anime, her on-screen acting credits include an appearance on the television series Beverly Hills 90210 and a role in the film Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.
Kelakos has had a long and successful career outside of voice acting as a singer-songwriter and a professional speaker. As a musician, she has produced several CDs of original music, including I Will Fly (1998) and To The Bone (2000). Her songs have been featured in films and she has performed the national anthem at Shea Stadium. Her background as a performer eventually led to a second career as a communication and presentation coach. She is the president of The Eleni Group, a company established in 2003, through which she coaches business leaders and executives on public speaking and authentic communication. She is also a certified speaking professional, a past president of the National Speakers Association of Michigan, and the author of multiple books including Touch the Sky: Find Your Voice, Speak Your Truth, Make Your Mark and Claim the Stage A Woman's Guide to Speaking Up, Standing Out, and Taking Leadership.
