Carlos Romero Franco

Description
Carlos Romero Franco is an Argentine actor and director with a extensive career in dubbing, theater, and television. He was born into a family of performers, being the son of dubbing actor and radio personality Carlos Romero and actress Nelly Franco, and nephew to actresses Eva and Herminia Franco. Despite his lineage, his entry into dubbing was not immediate; an early, unsatisfying experience voicing a bit part in the anime Candy Candy at the age of sixteen led him to step away from the profession for several years. He returned in 1982 after being cast in a leading role for the Brazilian telenovela Los Inmortales, a success he attributes to a natural aptitude for neutral Spanish, despite having no formal training in it at the time. He later studied acting with Néstor Raimondi and took courses in phoniatry.

Romero Franco is perhaps best known to anime fans for his work on classic series from the late 70s and early 80s. He provided the Spanish voice for the character Kento Tate in the series Future Robot Daltanious and voiced Daisaku Enjouji in Kōsoku Denjin Albegas. His other anime credits include a role in Arjuna, where he played the older President of the United States, and he also served as the dubbing director for the Spanish version of that series.

Beyond anime, his work as a dubbing actor and director has been prolific and wide-ranging. He has directed dubbing for series and movies on channels such as MovieCity, MGM, and Fox, with credits including directing the Spanish-language version for the first season of Da Vinci's Demons. He has also lent his voice to countless films and served as a narrator for documentary channels like Discovery, Animal Planet, Infinito, and National Geographic. His approach to the craft emphasizes naturalism, believing that the mark of good dubbing is that it goes unnoticed by the audience. Throughout his career, he has worked at Argentina's most prominent dubbing studios, including Gapsa, Civisa, Videorecord, and Media Pro.

In addition to his performance and direction work, Romero Franco has contributed to the next generation of voice actors by teaching classes in neutral Spanish at the Instituto Dial, helping newcomers develop their talent for dubbing.
