Description
Miya Nakamura, the illegitimate child of a wealthy and prominent family, has spent her life in poverty with her beloved mother. After her mother passes away, Miya is taken in by her father’s legitimate family, the Kounokura household. Bracing herself for a life of servitude and cruelty, she is convinced her new stepmother and stepsisters will treat her as a classic fairy tale villain would, making her existence miserable. However, upon arriving at the family’s grand estate, she discovers that her expectations could not be further from the truth.

Her new stepmother, Teru Kounokura, is a stern and imposing woman with a serious demeanor, but she is deeply nurturing and attentive to Miya’s needs. Teru quickly takes charge of Miya’s well-being, ensuring her diet is manageable and that she has a proper room to stay in. The two stepsisters, Marika and Arisa, also defy Miya’s fears. Marika is brash, intelligent, and academically driven, taking it upon herself to improve Miya’s education and etiquette. Arisa is calm, observant, and perceptive, noticing the calluses on Miya’s hands from her difficult past and offering remedies without pity. Together, this family of intense but kind-hearted women works to help Miya adjust to her new life.

The narrative follows Miya as she navigates the unfamiliar world of wealth and high society while overcoming her deep-seated anthropophobia, or fear of people. Her timid nature often causes her to misinterpret her new family’s intense love as potential danger, leading to awkward and comedic misunderstandings. The central conflict deepens when Miya’s manipulative maternal grandmother appears, attempting to reclaim Miya not out of love, but to sell her into indentured servitude. Marika and Arisa immediately see through the grandmother’s deception and confront her to protect their new sister, solidifying their role as Miya’s fierce protectors. The series explores themes of found family and healing, as Miya learns to accept genuine kindness and finally finds a sense of belonging in the home she once dreaded.
