Motivated by a prophetic dream about a warrior known as the Super Saiyan God, Beerus sets out across the universe to find this challenger. Hearing rumors of a Saiyan from Earth who defeated the tyrant Frieza, he travels to the planet, immediately putting Goku and all his allies on high alert. The narrative follows Beerus as he confronts Goku, easily overpowering his Super Saiyan 3 form. His search then leads him to Vegeta, who is reluctantly enjoying a family vacation on a cruise ship celebrating Bulma's birthday. Vegeta, harboring childhood memories of Beerus humiliating his father, King Vegeta, desperately tries to appease the deity to protect his loved ones. When a minor incident involving dessert triggers Beerus's fury, a desperate battle ensues, with Earth's mightiest warriors—including Majin Buu, Gotenks, and Gohan—proving completely powerless against him.

The central narrative arc follows the Z-Fighters as they scramble to find a way to challenge the God of Destruction. Following Shenron's guidance, they learn of the ritual to create the Super Saiyan God, requiring six righteous Saiyans to channel their energy into one. With the unborn child of Gohan and Videl serving as the sixth, Goku successfully transforms, setting the stage for a monumental confrontation. The ensuing battle between Super Saiyan God Goku and Beerus is so intense that their clashes send shockwaves across the entire universe, threatening its very existence. Despite Goku's newfound divine power, Beerus reveals he is fighting at only a fraction of his true strength.
