In the year 2070, the Skyfall Calamity forever reshaped Earth. A supernova explosion caused multiple space stations to crash onto the planet, bringing with them an unknown cosmic bacteria. This bacteria did not simply infect but rather eroded and assimilated earthly matter, giving rise to new, dangerous lifeforms known as Transcendent Beings—what humanity calls kaiju.

In response to this catastrophe, human civilization fractured. The majority retreated to the City, a highly advanced society built in isolation from the monster-infested wastelands. Within the City, technology has liberated its citizens from the physical and mental constraints of body, brain, space, and time. Outside these safe walls lies the Zone, a perilous region where the Transcendent Beings now roam.

The story centers on two young protagonists from these opposing worlds. Maru is a kind-hearted and正义感十足boy who lives a peaceful life within the utopian City, never hesitating to help others. Coco is a clever and curious girl from the Aidara tribe, a group of humans who were left behind in the Zone and have learned to coexist with the kaiju. Unlike the rest of humanity, Coco is a kaiju tamer who works alongside the monsters to fulfill her mission.

Set against the backdrop of Sakai City in Osaka Prefecture, Kaiju Decode: The Ring of Aidara follows the journey of Maru and Coco as they meet and struggle to find a shared path forward. Their encounter forces them to confront the vast cultural and environmental divide between their two worlds, exploring the very meaning of life and the possibility of true coexistence between humanity and kaiju. The narrative arc focuses on Marus transformation as he learns about the Aidara people and the harsh reality of the Zone, while Coco demonstrates the strength required to protect her unique way of life. The project is a collaboration between Tsuburaya Productions and Toei Animation, with a script by Katsuie Shibata, monster designs by Masayuki Goto, and is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
