ONA
Description
Following the devastating 7.6 magnitude earthquake that struck the Noto Peninsula on January 1, 2024, a high school student named Yuki Wakura was forced to leave her hometown of Wajima to live in the neighboring city of Nanao. The story begins when Yuki decides to return to Wajima for the first time in a long while to see her friend, Tsumugi Kashima. Traveling on the Noto Railway, she finds the scars of the disaster still visible everywhere. While she feels sadness seeing her hometown changed, she also finds comfort in witnessing that the people living in Wajima continue to look forward with resilience, just as they did before the earthquake.

In the companion story, the perspective shifts as Tsumugi leaves Wajima to visit Nanao for the historic Seihaku festival. Yuki and her mother, Yoko, travel to meet her, passing through Komaruyama Castle Ruins Park where they can see the city’s steady progress toward recovery. When Yuki and Tsumugi finally meet, they go to see the festival highlight, the large Dekayama floats. Watching the people around them, full of energy and joy, fills both girls with hope for the future.

The two-episode original net anime is set in the real-world locations of Wajima and Nanao on the Noto Peninsula, focusing on the emotional recovery of the community following the January 2024 earthquake. The narrative arc follows the theme of loss and resilience, moving from the initial grief of seeing a changed homeland to the cautious optimism found in community traditions and the steady work of reconstruction. Key characters include the returning evacuee Yuki Wakura, voiced by Reina Ueda; her steadfast friend Tsumugi Kashima, voiced by Marika Kono; and Yuki’s mother Yoko, voiced by Mamiko Noto.
