Keiko Sahara, an ordinary office worker whose only notable hobby is creating intricate gel nail designs, is suddenly pulled from her mundane life and transported to a strange fantasy realm. In this world, magic is not cast with wands or incantations but is channeled and activated through nail art. Specialized artisans known as Nail Painters wield significant social power by painting magical materials onto clients nails to create potent spells.

Keiko is discovered by a master Nail Painter who recognizes the raw creativity in her Earth-born techniques, and she is taken on as an apprentice. She begins a new life studying under her mentor, a grouchy goblin named Lido, who pushes her to understand the practical magical applications of her craft rather than just the aesthetics. Alongside her training, Keiko becomes the personal nail artist for an eccentric and powerful sorcerer named Rocco, as well as his own brash young apprentice, Hou. Rocco becomes her best customer despite the fact that the nails she paints for him barely summon a spark of magical energy.

The central conflict arises from the gap between Keikos current abilities and the harsh requirements of her new environment. The nails she creates are cute, detailed, and technically impressive by Earth standards, but they are largely useless for combat or utility magic in this world. She aspires to become the first decorated nail artist in the realm, combining beauty with formidable power, but she has a long journey ahead. Narrative arcs focus on her struggle to master the fundamentals of magical nail application, her interactions with the arrogant wizard Rocco who values aesthetics over raw power, and her efforts to prove herself to the skeptical magical community that views her foreign techniques as little more than party tricks.
