Description
A high school junior named Sana Chiken has one weakness: she is completely obsessed with handsome faces. After hearing rumors that her favorite online influencer, the notoriously good-looking Kanato Ugo, attends Minowa General High School, she enrolls with dreams of seeing him in person. When she finally encounters her idol, she discovers he is not the perfect prince she imagined. Kanato is a senior with a jaded and apathetic personality, and he is on the verge of being expelled for skipping too many classes.
However, there is a loophole. The school has agreed to cancel Kanato's expulsion if its official social media account can reach one hundred thousand followers. Desperate to save the boy whose face she adores, Sana volunteers to secretly manage the account. Using her knowledge of fan psychology and social media trends, she begins crafting a carefully curated online image for Kanato, posting photos and updates designed to go viral. In return for her help, Kanato agrees to participate in her schemes, which leads to a series of increasingly intimate and thrilling staged moments, from holding hands to unexpected hugs and near-kisses.
The story unfolds at Minowa General High School, where Sana juggles her secret mission with the realities of daily student life. As she works closely with Kanato, she begins to see past his stunning exterior and uncovers a complicated, insecure boy who worries that people only value him for his looks. Her genuine feelings start to evolve from a superficial crush into something deeper. This budding romance is complicated by their classmate Ryo Doigaki, a sharp and observant boy who secretly harbors feelings for Sana. Ryo is also hiding a handsome face beneath his long bangs, and he grows suspicious of Sana and Kanato's relationship as he watches from the sidelines.
Notable narrative arcs include the pair hitting follower milestones, which come with new rules or privileges that push their fake relationship closer to reality. A key moment occurs when they reach a follower count that lifts a ban on physical touch, leading Kanato to become more aggressively affectionate, leaving Sana to question where the act ends and genuine emotion begins. The story also explores Kanato's struggle with being misunderstood due to his appearance and Sana's growth from a shallow fan into someone who fights for a person she truly cares about. Their evolving connection is further tested when Ryo decides to act on his feelings, creating a love triangle that forces Sana to confront what she really wants. The live-action film, which features the theme song Almond Chocolate performed by the K-pop group ILLIT, brings this high-speed romantic comedy to life as Sana discovers that falling in love takes much more than a pretty face.
