Movie
Description
Every time she falls asleep, Akari Mochizuki finds herself trapped in a nightmare that grows more vivid and more hostile with each passing night. Her ordinary daily life begins to crack under the strain of sleep deprivation and creeping dread, and the boundary between the dream world and reality starts to blur. The turning point comes when she picks up a pocket watch inside one of her nightmares. The watch serves as a bridge between the two worlds, drawing her deeper into the abyss of her own subconscious and forcing her to confront a terror that goes far beyond ordinary bad dreams.
Akari is supported by a small circle of people who become entangled in her ordeal: her sister Hana, her friend Shō Asahina, the gentle Hikari Mochizuki, and others including Sōta Kiritani, Sakura Himemiya, Ayaka Hoshino, Akira Mochizuki, and Rin Saotome. Each character is drawn into the mystery of the nightmares and the strange pocket watch, and together they must navigate a landscape where fear is not just an emotion but a tangible force that can reshape reality.
The story unfolds in a recognizably modern Japanese setting, but the dream sequences twist familiar locations into distorted, oppressive spaces. The narrative arc follows Akari as she moves from confusion and isolation toward a more active struggle to understand the nature of the nightmares, the origin of the pocket watch, and the deeper conflict that lies at the heart of her sleeping terror. The film was developed as a feature-length project by the AI-assisted animation studio Puri Prince, having won the Prince JAM! contest in 2024, and is directed and written by Yuzuru Kobayashi.
