Description
Hajime Nagumo started as an average Japanese high school student: black-haired, brown-eyed, slim, and approximately 165 cm tall. He possessed a kind, gentle nature and prioritized personal hobbies over academics, a philosophy leading classmates to perceive him as lazy, especially when he slept in class after late-night gaming. Unexpected bravery surfaced during life-threatening situations where others froze. His school life involved persistent bullying from Daisuke Hiyama, stemming from Hiyama's resentment over Hajime's friendship with class idol Kaori Shirasaki.

Transported to the fantasy world Tortus, Hajime received the commonplace Synergist job, granting basic alchemical transmutation. Classmates ostracized him for this perceived weakness. In the Great Orcus Labyrinth, Hiyama betrayed him, causing a fall into an abyss where a Claw Bear severed his left arm. Facing starvation and death, Hajime consumed monster flesh, triggering a painful mutation. Survival came through drinking Ambrosia, a healing liquid accelerating his transformation: hair turned white, eyes blood-red, crimson vein-like markings appeared, muscle mass increased, and height grew to 175 cm. This "Mystical Mutation" enhanced his physical stats beyond normal limits, granting superhuman strength (10,950+), agility (13,450+), and magic proficiency without incantations. He later lost his right eye battling a Hydra.

Post-transformation, Hajime abandoned his former kindness, becoming ruthless, cynical, and willing to kill anyone obstructing his goal to return to Japan—including former classmates. He developed a habit of smiling during danger, earning the moniker "Predator." His core philosophy emphasized self-reliance and resolve over power, criticizing idealists like Kouki Amanogawa for valuing "justice" over practical survival. Despite this merciless exterior, deep loyalty remained for those he considered comrades, whom he protected fiercely. He replaced his lost eye with a magic artifact called the Demon Eye and his left arm with a prosthetic, later concealing both with illusions.

In the labyrinth's depths, he discovered and freed Yue, a 323-year-old vampire princess imprisoned for centuries. Their bond became foundational to his emotional stability, preventing total loss of empathy. Yue became his first companion and romantic partner, accepting his subsequent relationships with allies: Shea Haulia, a rabbit-eared diviner; Tio Klarus, a masochistic dragon; Kaori Shirasaki, his childhood admirer; and Shizuku Yaegashi, Kaori's pragmatic best friend. These relationships gradually softened his cynicism, though he maintained a cold demeanor.

Hajime leveraged his Synergist abilities and otaku knowledge to create firearms, artillery, and vehicles, becoming a master gunsmith. After conquering Orcus, he learned Tortus's true ruler was the god Ehit, who manipulated races into perpetual war for entertainment. Hajime rejected Ehit's authority, vowing to destroy anyone, even deities, endangering his journey home. This resolve intensified after incidents like Kaori's near-death caused by Hiyama, whom Hajime executed brutally as a warning. He later coordinated assaults on Ehit's forces, massacring apostles and loyalists without hesitation.

Following Ehit's defeat, Hajime used metamorphosis magic to revert his hair and eyes to their original colors but retained his prosthetics, disguising them. He returned to Japan with his companions, confronting residual challenges like intimidating adversaries harassing his allies. His worldview evolved to tolerate helping others—particularly when coaxed by comrades—though he prioritized family and close allies above all. Despite regaining some pre-fall traits, he remained fundamentally shaped by his ordeal, balancing ruthless pragmatism with unwavering loyalty to his inner circle.
