Description
Ivan Whisky, designated Cyborg 001, is a character from the anime Cyborg 009 Call of Justice. He is a Russian infant who was transformed into a 00 Cyborg by the Black Ghost organization while still a baby. His designation as the first of the 00 Cyborgs reflects his status as one of the original subjects of this program. His father, Dr. Gamo Whisky, was a scientist who performed brain enhancement experiments on Ivan. These procedures granted Ivan immense psychic powers but permanently stunted his physical growth, leaving him trapped in the body of an infant under one year old.

In terms of personality, Ivan is defined by a profound contrast between his infantile form and his hyper-intelligent mind. As a result of his brain enhancements, he possesses a superhuman intellect that surpasses that of a typical adult, allowing him to analyze situations and devise complex strategies. He is generally portrayed as calm, peaceful, and possessing a quiet wisdom, serving as a source of guidance for his teammates. Despite his youthful appearance, he acts as a secondary mentor and a tactical asset for the group, often helping to survey battle situations. He does not harbor hostility towards his father for the experiments, understanding that they were motivated by a desire to save him from a fatal illness. He is shown to be deeply committed to protecting humanity and preventing others from suffering the same fate he did.

Ivan's primary role in Call of Justice is that of long-range communication and the team's last-ditch psychic defense. For a time, he and the other 00 Cyborgs were freed from their duties and allowed to live quiet, peaceful lives. However, he is eventually contacted by Lucy Davenport, a journalist investigating a mysterious and evil group of superhumans known as Blessed. This contact serves as a catalyst that brings the 00 Cyborgs out of retirement to confront this new threat. In the story, he is not a frontline fighter but rather a powerful strategic asset who uses his abilities to turn the tide in dire situations.

Regarding key relationships, Ivan depends on his fellow cyborgs for care due to his physical state. He shares a strong bond with the team, especially with Cyborg 003, who often looks after him due to her nurturing nature. He was instrumental in the original rebellion against Black Ghost, using his telepathic powers to contact Cyborg 009, Joe Shimamura, and urging him to escape his confines and join the others. Ivan serves as a source of wisdom and information for the entire team.

The character does not undergo significant external development within the narrative of Call of Justice specifically. However, his role in the broader story sees him evolve from a liberated test subject living in hiding to an active protector of humanity once again. His core characteristics remain consistent: he is a strategic leader, a powerful psychic asset, and a character defined by the tragedy of his condition and the burden of his immense power.

Ivan's most notable abilities are his powerful psychic powers, which include telepathy, psychokinesis, and extra-sensory perception (ESP). He primarily uses telepathy to communicate, as his undeveloped vocal chords make normal speech difficult. His ESP grants him a sensitivity to future events, allowing him to see visions of things to come. These abilities are incredibly powerful, but placing such a great strain on his infant body forces him to fall into a deep sleep for an extended period to recover his strength. It is assumed that he follows a similar pattern in Call of Justice, using his powers in critical moments before needing to rest. He is shown to be capable of using his psychic abilities to counteract those of an opponent, such as a psychic member of the Blessed.
