TV-Series
Description
Mitsuki is a synthetic human created as a partial clone of Orochimaru, the legendary ninja scientist from the Hidden Sound Village. Born and raised in a laboratory, he was designed to be a fully independent person capable of making his own choices. Orochimaru created him both out of scientific curiosity and a desire for an heir. After a series of trials in which Mitsuki’s memory was erased each time he failed, he eventually succeeded in choosing a third path that demonstrated his free will. Once granted independence, Mitsuki left Orochimaru’s care with only a photograph of Boruto Uzumaki, setting out to find him and enroll in the Hidden Leaf Village’s ninja academy.
Mitsuki’s personality is calm, observant, and analytical. He often appears detached or emotionless, a result of his isolated upbringing and lack of exposure to normal social interactions. He does not always understand human emotions but is not without empathy. Over time, he becomes more expressive and develops genuine feelings of affection, loyalty, and protectiveness toward his friends. He speaks bluntly, which others sometimes find strange, but he is not malicious. Mitsuki’s primary motivation is to discover his own identity and purpose. He views Boruto as his “sun” – a source of light and guidance that helps him shine as a moon. He is driven by a desire to belong and to understand what it means to be human.
In the story, Mitsuki serves as a key member of Team 7 under the leadership of Konohamaru Sarutobi, alongside Boruto Uzumaki and Sarada Uchiha. His calm demeanor balances Boruto’s impulsiveness and Sarada’s ambition. He frequently acts as a voice of reason during missions and helps protect his teammates. His role becomes more prominent as he faces threats such as the Otsutsuki clan and internal conflicts within the Hidden Leaf. He also goes through an arc where he temporarily leaves the village to follow a mysterious letter from shinobi of the Hidden Stone, only to be deceived and ultimately reaffirm his commitment to his team.
Mitsuki’s key relationships include Boruto, whom he admires deeply and considers his closest friend. Sarada is his other teammate, and the three develop strong bonds of trust. He refers to Orochimaru as his parent, though their relationship is complicated by Orochimaru’s dark past. He also has a clone “brother” named Log, who was created before him and helped test his resolve.
Throughout the series, Mitsuki undergoes significant development. He starts as an almost blank slate, questioning his own humanity and whether he is merely a tool. Through his experiences with Team 7, he learns to value friendship, trust, and self-determination. He becomes more emotional and begins to understand the importance of personal choice. His identity as a clone no longer defines him; instead, he carves out his own path as a shinobi of the Leaf.
Mitsuki possesses exceptional abilities due to his artificial nature. He can regenerate minor wounds, does not require food or water to survive, and has heightened senses. His body is elastic and stretchy, allowing him to extend his limbs like a snake to grapple or capture opponents. He inherited many of Orochimaru’s snake-related techniques, including summoning snakes, using hidden shadow snake hands, and creating snake clones. His most notable ability is Sage Transformation, a unique form of Sage Mode that grants him tremendous power, speed, and a snake-like aura. However, using it puts strain on his body, and combining it with Sage Mode can risk destroying his cells. He also has sharp claws and the ability to communicate with animals. Despite his power, he often holds back to avoid attracting attention, as advised by Orochimaru.
