Description
Pinky is a young anthropomorphic koala from Koalawalla Land, the parallel dimension where the koala characters of the anime originate. She is the younger sister of Blinky and enters the story soon after her brother comes to life, appearing suddenly in the human world and insisting that he return with her to their home dimension. In the original Japanese broadcasts her name is Purinti, sometimes romanized as Printy, while English-language versions of the series call her Pinky.
As a personality, Pinky is energetic, assertive, and curious, with a high-pitched voice and a strong will. In the Japanese version of the story she is characterized as a self-willed koala girl, and she frequently acts on impulse. Her fascination with human objects and everyday life often pulls her into trouble, and she is not shy about voicing her opinions, especially when her brother's lazy habits frustrate her. At the same time, she is playful and loyal toward the people close to her.
Her motivations change as the story progresses. At first she is driven by the wish to bring Blinky back to Koalawalla Land, but once he declines to leave Sandy, she settles into the group and becomes eager to join its adventures. After that point, curiosity, enthusiasm, and devotion to her brother and to Sandy are her main drives, and she frequently acts as the emotional catalyst who pushes the companions to travel, explore, and take risks, including regular excursions to Koalawalla Land.
In the story, Pinky is one of the three central protagonists, alongside Blinky and Sandy, filling the role of the lively younger sister of the trio. Her magic is central to the plot, because she can create instant portals to Koalawalla Land from nearly any location and can even open passages through time, an ability she performs by using the red lipstick in her magical cosmetic kit to draw a hole in the space-time continuum. Her powers are also used to defend and assist her friends, as when she creates a protective bubble around Sandy during a dangerous visit to the Crystal Place, and she can manipulate objects with her magic to help the group. Unlike Blinky, she does not need the nose-rubbing gesture called a noozle to remain active and awake.
Her key relationships define much of her behavior. With Blinky she shares a close sibling bond marked by frequent bickering over his laziness and relaxed attitude, balanced by deep loyalty on her part. With Sandy she develops a strong friendship, treating the girl as a best friend and mentor, while Sandy acts as a protective older-sister figure in return. In terms of development, Pinky stays a largely consistent character throughout the series, remaining the playful and magical younger sister of the group; the clearest change is her growing attachment to her brother's new life in the human world and her acceptance of the bond the trio has formed.
