Description
Jibril is a member of the Flügel, the sixth-ranked race in the world of Disboard, and she first appears in No Game No Life Zero as a key figure in the ancient Great War. She is the youngest and one of the most powerful of her kind, having been created by the war god Artosh during the final days of the Great War as the ultimate weapon designed to slay other deities. Her designated number within the Flügel is the "Closed Number," making her the last and most powerful individual produced by Artosh. Despite her youthful and angelic appearance, complete with long, rainbow-hued hair and large wings, her true age is over six thousand years old.

Jibril's personality is a complex mix of traits driven primarily by an insatiable thirst for knowledge. She is a self-proclaimed "extreme knowledge seeker" who values information above almost all else, to the point of risking her life to obtain rare books and wisdom. This passion is matched by a fierce and aggressive bloodthirstiness inherited from her purpose as a combat unit. During the era of the Great War depicted in No Game No Life Zero, she is known for being ruthless, merciless to her enemies, and possessing a sadistic enjoyment of battle. She looks down upon lower-ranked races, displaying arrogance and using sharp sarcasm towards them, particularly elves and werebeasts. However, she can be refined and even kind to those she acknowledges, though this is a very rare occurrence.

Jibril's primary motivation throughout her long life is the acquisition of knowledge and the pursuit of new experiences. She was created as an "imperfect" being, a unique trait given by Artosh to allow her to understand imperfection itself, which fuels her endless curiosity. This drive leads her to break from the norms of her kind, such as when she opposed a book-sharing law among the Flügel and left her homeland, Avant Heim, to claim the Elchea National Library as her own after defeating its former king in a game. In the context of the movie's setting, she is also motivated by the thrill of combat and the challenge of defeating powerful foes, which is a core function of her existence as a Flügel. Her ultimate, unfulfilled goal during the Great War was to challenge and defeat her own creator, Artosh. Later, after losing a game to the siblings Sora and Shiro, her motivation shifts to serving them loyally as her "masters," deeply respecting their cunning and intellect.

In No Game No Life Zero, which takes place six thousand years before the main series, Jibril’s role is that of a formidable antagonist representing the might of the Flügel. She encounters Schwi, an Ex-Machina unit, during a solo campaign. Viewing the head of an Ex-Machina as a rare and valuable trophy, Jibril attacks Schwi without hesitation, confident in her overwhelming power. This confrontation leads to a fierce battle where Jibril ultimately kills Schwi, though not without suffering significant damage and being forced into a temporary, child-like state due to the magic recoil from using her ultimate attack. This event is a pivotal moment in the backstory of the world, directly influencing the outcome of the Great War and the creation of the Ten Covenants. Her role in the movie highlights her as a terrifyingly powerful and instinctual force of destruction.

Jibril’s key relationships are defined by power and service. Her most important relationship is with her creator, Artosh, whom she was made to serve but also secretly desired to surpass. She has a complicated dynamic with Azril, the leader of the Flügel and the first of their kind, who views Jibril as a special "irregular" sister unit. Her most significant relationship, which forms after the events of the movie, is with Sora and Shiro, the human siblings who defeat her in a game. After this loss, she becomes their loyal servant, addressing them as "Master" and developing deep admiration and even romantic feelings for Sora. However, within No Game No Life Zero itself, her pivotal relationship is with Schwi, the Ex-Machina she hunts and eventually destroys.

Jibril's development across the timeline is subtle but significant. Created as an impartial weapon of war, she already displayed "eccentric" traits that set her apart from other Flügel, such as an obsession with owning books individually rather than sharing them as a collective. The "gift of imperfection" bestowed by Artosh allows her to grow and change in ways other Flügel cannot. Her defeat at the hands of Sora and Shiro years later completes a long arc, where she learns to accept the strength and potential of a race she once considered utterly worthless, thus finally understanding the "imperfection" her creator spoke of. In the movie, her character serves as a stark representation of the old world's brutal, power-based logic before the more game-oriented society was established.

Jibril's notable abilities are among the highest in her world. She possesses immense magical and combat prowess, being the strongest Flügel created to slay gods. Her power is such that using just five percent of her full strength can split an ocean, and her maximum output can completely evaporate one. She has single-handedly defeated higher-ranked races such as a Gigant, a Dragonia, and a Phantasma, though sustaining severe injuries in the process. Her arsenal includes a devastating god-slaying weapon known as the Heavenly Smite. Her durability is also extreme, as she has survived a direct hit from a hydrogen bomb with no damage. Beyond raw force, her greatest asset is her vast knowledge and strategic intellect, which she uses to analyze and adapt to any situation.
