Description
Ban, known as the Fox's Sin of Greed, is a tall, muscular man with pale skin, white hair, and distinctive scarlet-red eyes. On the left side of his neck, he bears a large scar inflicted by Meliodas, which is notable for being one of the few wounds that his regenerative abilities could not erase. His trademark attire typically consists of a dark red jacket and matching trousers, and his Seven Deadly Sins symbol, a fox, is tattooed on his left side. Born in the impoverished town of Raven, Ban had a difficult childhood, suffering abuse from his parents, and his younger sister died of malnutrition when she was only four years old. He was eventually taken in by Zhivago, a wolf-man thief who taught him the art of stealing and became a true father figure to him.

Ban's personality is characterized by a lighthearted and often crass demeanor, frequently appearing lazy, sarcastic, and prone to mispronouncing names deliberately. Despite this superficial carelessness, he possesses a deeply caring and passionate side, showing fierce loyalty to those he considers family. His moniker, the Sin of Greed, belies his nature; his acts of theft are rarely for personal gain but are driven by a desire to help others or to feel alive. He is also an exceptionally skilled cook, though he only chooses to prepare meals when he is in a good mood.

Ban's primary motivation stems from a profound personal tragedy. He journeyed to the Fairy King's Forest seeking the legendary Fountain of Youth, believing that if he lived long enough, good things would eventually happen. There, he met Elaine, the fairy saint guarding the fountain. Over the course of seven days, they fell in love. However, a red demon attacked the forest, mortally wounding both of them. In her dying moments, Elaine gave Ban the water from the Fountain of Youth by pressing her lips to his, granting him immortality. The demon was later blamed for destroying the forest and killing Elaine, but Ban was falsely accused of the crime for his own greed. His driving purpose became finding a way to resurrect Elaine from the dead.

Ban wields the Holy Staff Courechouse as his Sacred Treasure, a weapon consisting of four rod sections held together by chains that can warp and elongate at his will. Its special ability, Super Concentration, allows him to maximize his physical strength and mental acuity. When separated from his Sacred Treasure, he skillfully uses a three-section staff. Ban's most defining power is Snatch, an ability that allows him to steal physical objects from a distance, including a weapon or even an opponent's internal organs. More devastatingly, Snatch can also steal physical attributes like strength or speed, adding them to his own power while weakening his foe.

His immortality, granted by the Fountain of Youth, grants him near-instantaneous regeneration from any wound, immunity to aging, hunger, thirst, and all poisons. He is functionally unkillable, having survived 33 official executions before being recruited. However, wounds inflicted by demonic power or by Meliodas heal more slowly. In his pursuit of resurrection, Ban's immortality serves as both a tool and a burden, allowing him to take reckless risks that no other human could survive.

Ban shares his most significant relationship with Meliodas, the captain of the Seven Deadly Sins, who personally recruited him from prison. Despite their constant bickering and playful violence, they share an unbreakable bond of mutual respect and trust. Meliodas is one of the few people who accepted Ban for who he is. Another crucial relationship is with King, the Fairy King, who initially harbored a deep grudge against Ban, believing he had destroyed the Fairy King's Forest and killed his sister, Elaine. This misunderstanding leads to a tense rivalry, though they eventually become grudging allies and effective combat partners.

During the events of Revival of the Commandments, Ban leaves the Kingdom of Liones to return to the Fairy King's Forest with King and the Holy Knight Jericho, who has developed a crush on him. While he does not return Jericho's romantic feelings, he develops a tolerance for her company, eventually referring to her by name and acknowledging her as the only human he can stand. The season marks a major turning point for Ban when the demon Melascula uses her magic to resurrect Elaine. Initially revived in a corrupted state, Elaine reunites with Ban, and her subsequent purification from the curse brings Ban one step closer to achieving his long-sought goal. He also confronts members of the Ten Commandments, the elite demon force that serves as the primary antagonistic force, seeking revenge for their role in Elaine's death. Through these battles, Ban's reckless fighting style, heavily reliant on his immortality, is put to the test against foes who possess the power to bypass his regeneration.
