Description
Deathpierce is a Holy Knight from the kingdom of Liones, originating from the fallen kingdom of Edinburgh. At thirty-five years old, with a recorded power level of 1690, he holds the rank of Diamond and is recognized as a Holy Knight whose abilities are second only to his superior, Denzel Liones. Physically, he is characterized by his long silver hair and mustache, and he typically wears a distinctive yellow regal knight attire with blue gauntlets.
In terms of personality, Deathpierce presents himself as a calm, polite, and thoughtful individual, often displaying a composed demeanor in contrast to some of his more boisterous comrades. He is a strategic thinker, once devising a plan to dispel the distrust of other Holy Knights towards Meliodas by arranging a public duel. However, beneath this collected exterior lies a deep and abiding hatred for both the Demon and Goddess clans, whom he considers monsters. This animosity is not inherent but is forged through tragic experience; he harbors immense resentment towards the Demon Clan for killing Denzel, and towards the Goddess Clan for their manipulative actions which he believes led to the brainwashing of his allies.
Deathpierce's role in the story is primarily defined by his service as a member of the Pleiades of the Azure Sky, an order of Holy Knights serving directly under the Assistant Great Holy Knight, Denzel Liones. A key aspect of his background is his origin from Edinburgh, a kingdom that fell, and his subsequent recruitment by Denzel. This history gives him a personal stake in the survival of human kingdoms. His journey is marked by a significant trauma: the death of Denzel at the hands of the Demon Derieri, an event that solidifies his hatred for the Demon Clan. This hatred later expands to encompass the Goddess Clan when the Archangel Ludociel uses a power called Breath of Bless, also known as Cheat Hope, on the Pleiades. While this power greatly enhances their physical and magical capabilities, it also brainwashes them, turning them into unquestioning pawns. Upon learning that Elizabeth, not Ludociel, was responsible for healing the wounded after a major battle, Deathpierce scoffs at her contribution, demonstrating his deep-seated prejudice and fanaticism under the blessing's influence.
One of Deathpierce's most notable and unique relationships is with a small fairy he named Invisible. This fairy is invisible to everyone except him, and they have been close friends since his youth in Edinburgh. He also shares a deep sense of loyalty and respect for Denzel Liones, whose death serves as a primary motivator for his later actions. His relationships with other Holy Knight leaders, such as Hendrickson and Dreyfus, are notably uncomfortable due to their actions in a previous Holy War, and his own squad was once sent to guard the kingdom's borders, possibly as a result of political tensions.
Over the course of the narrative, Deathpierce undergoes a distinct development, moving from a loyal, if skeptical, Holy Knight to a radicalized human supremacist. After the Holy War concludes, he witnesses Meliodas, a demon, and Elizabeth, who carries the soul of a goddess, become the king and queen of Liones. Unwilling to serve under rulers from the races he has come to despise, he resigns from his position as a Holy Knight and leaves the kingdom. His ultimate goal shifts from serving Liones to restoring his homeland of Edinburgh, with the stated aim of creating a kingdom exclusively for humans. This path indicates that his hatred has fully consumed him, leading him to reject all non-human races entirely.
In combat, Deathpierce wields a katana and possesses a unique magical ability known as Melody. This power allows him to disrupt and interfere with the rhythm present in an opponent's actions, affecting the flow of their movements and magic. By controlling this rhythm, he can cause magical attacks to veer off course or significantly delay them, making him a formidable opponent who can neutralize offensive magic and control the tempo of a battle.
