Description
Kano Kirishima originates from *Air* and appears in the crossover *Kaginado*. Raised by her older sister, Hijiri, after their parents' deaths, she lives at the Kirishima Clinic where Hijiri works. A yellow bandanna is always worn on her wrist, tied there by Hijiri in childhood to cover self-inflicted wounds. Hijiri claimed it was a charm granting magical abilities if kept until adulthood, fostering Kano's strong belief in magic and her dream of flying to reunite with her deceased mother in the sky.
Energetic, whimsical, and somewhat naive, Kano is outgoing and friendly. She often interacts with a stray dog named Potato, considering him a close companion and claiming to understand him. She experiences sleepwalking, fainting spells, and mutters incomprehensible phrases, later revealed as possession by the spirit of Shiraho—a sorrowful ancient mother reenacting her tragic end through Kano. During these episodes, Kano exhibits aggression like attempted strangulation or self-harm, remembering nothing afterward. This possession began when Kano, as a child, took a supernatural white feather from a shrine, later identified as a feather from the winged being Kanna.
Her development focuses on overcoming the possession. Learning Hijiri fabricated the bandanna's magic to prevent self-harm, Kano despairs and attempts to "fly away." Found at the shrine without the bandanna, surrounded by an ethereal glow and blood-like substance, the feather's power—facilitated by Yukito Kunisaki—triggers a vision. In this vision, Kano communicates with her mother, expressing gratitude for life and acceptance of her loss. This resolves the possession. Kano then releases the bandanna into the wind as a symbol of healing and moving forward.
In *Kaginado*, Kano appears as part of the ensemble cast featuring characters from multiple Key franchises. Her design retains her signature bandanna, short blue hair, and green eyes. She participates in group activities like a beach episode and school events, including a student council president election arc. Her role is primarily comedic within crossover scenarios, without advancing her personal story. She is briefly mentioned during a soccer club confrontation and appears in background interactions, maintaining her established traits.
She also appears in the fighting game *Eternal Fighter Zero*, using elemental magic and a staff for long-range combat, reflecting her belief in supernatural abilities. Her special moves are tied to a "Magic Gauge" resource, reinforcing this thematic association.
