Description
Amane Nakano, often called A-chan by her close friends, is a secondary character who serves as the best friend and fellow otaku of the protagonist, Kae Serinuma. She is a seventeen-year-old high school student in her second year, belonging to Class 2-A. Physically, Amane is depicted as a petite teenage girl with chin-length brown hair and large purple eyes, and she is noted to be one of the shortest characters in the series. Her standard school attire consists of the female uniform, which includes a white long-sleeved blouse worn under a vest or jacket with a ribbon, paired with a dark short skirt.

Like her best friend Kae, Amane is a dedicated otaku and a fujoshi, meaning she enjoys boys' love media and often fantasizes about romantic relationships between male characters. She and Kae frequently share their hobby, discussing anime and imagining scenarios involving the boys in their class. However, Amane is consistently portrayed as being more mature and possessing greater self-control than Kae. While Kae can become entirely consumed by her fantasies, Amane generally maintains a clearer separation between her fictional interests and real-life situations. This grounded nature allows her to act as a voice of reason for Kae, offering practical advice and scolding her when her friend's idealized views of relationships lead to trouble.

Amane's role in the story is primarily that of a supportive confidante. She is often the person Kae turns to for help navigating the complexities of having multiple boys vying for her attention. In these interactions, Amane provides a more realistic perspective, gently pointing out when Kae's fujoshi tendencies cause her to misinterpret romantic advances or when Kae naively believes she can maintain a happy status quo with everyone. Her own life includes a non-otaku boyfriend named Mikoshiba, a relationship she values enough to keep her otaku hobbies private and occasionally miss anime events for dates. This relationship further highlights her ability to function in the real world apart from her fujoshi interests. Among the main male characters, her first impressions vary; she finds Hayato Shinomiya strict, thinks Kazuma Mutsumi is a nice person, and initially has a very negative view of Nozomu Nanashima due to his treatment of Kae. Over the course of the series, Amane does not undergo a dramatic personal transformation but remains a stable, mature presence. Her key development is seen in the consistency of her balanced perspective, which serves as an anchor for the more fantastical and chaotic elements of the plot.
