Following the death of her favorite anime character, Kae experiences extreme grief, leading to a period of intense emotional distress and physical transformation. When she returns to school, her classmates barely recognize her, and she suddenly finds herself pursued by four attractive male classmates: the popular and athletic Yuusuke Igarashi, the reserved and intellectual Shima Nishina, the cheerful and friendly Nozomu Nanashima, and the stoic and disciplined Asuma Mutsumi.
