Asami Shimoda is a Japanese actress, voice actress, and singer born on January 30, 1986, in Tottori City, Tottori Prefecture. She is affiliated with the talent agency Arts Vision. Shimoda graduated from the Japan Narration Acting Institute as a special scholarship student before beginning her professional career.

Shimoda's debut role came in 2005 with the video game The iDOLM@STER, where she was cast as the twin characters Ami Futami and Mami Futami. This franchise would become one of the defining works of her career, with her continuing to voice both characters across numerous sequels, television adaptations, and films including The IDOLM@STER (2011), THE IDOLM@STER MOVIE: Kagayaki no Mukōgawa e! (2014), and the PUCHIM@S series. The dual role showcases her vocal versatility, often requiring her to perform conversations between the two distinct characters.

A significant and unique achievement in Shimoda's career came in 2007 when she provided the voice data for the voice synthesis software VOCALOID2, specifically for the twin characters Kagamine Rin and Kagamine Len. This role made her voice a fundamental part of the Vocaloid phenomenon, used by countless producers to create songs. She has remained actively involved with the Vocaloid community, attending concerts and events, and even covering popular fan-created songs like Rin Rin Signal.

In television animation, Shimoda has built an extensive filmography across a wide range of genres. She has taken on roles such as the energetic Lingyin Huang in the Infinite Stratos series, the stoic Nanaba in Attack on Titan, and the humorous Kotomi Tsuda in the Seitokai Yakuindomo series. Her other notable anime roles include Kaoruko Serigaya in Hanebad!, Chika Yamada in B Gata H Kei, Yūta Sasaki in Cuticle Detective Inaba, Saori Nishifukai in Futsū no Joshikōsei ga Locodol Yattemita, and Collet in Conception.

Beyond anime, Shimoda has lent her voice to numerous video game characters. Her game credits include Matsuri Orihara in Princess Connect! Re:Dive, Pipin in Fairy Fencer F, Vigna and Lancet-2 in Arknights, and the various Bulin units in Azur Lane. She also voiced Nafhe in Black Rock Shooter The Game and Alice in Killer Is Dead.

In addition to voice acting, Shimoda is a singer. She released her first mini-album, Dreams, in 2010, followed by her debut maxi single Awake in 2012 under the 5pb. records label. She has also performed on numerous character song CDs related to her various roles.

Shimoda has been recognized as a Tottori Furusato Ambassador by her home prefecture, a role she was appointed to on July 13, 2013, to promote the region's culture. She is known affectionately to fans by the nickname "Asapon". In her personal life, Shimoda announced her marriage on her official blog in December 2017.
