Description
Jasminka Antonenko is a student at the Luna Nova Magical Academy who first appears alongside her roommates Amanda O'Neill and Constanze Amalie von Braunschbank-Albrechtsberger. She comes from Russia, though the exact part of her birthplace is not specified. At some point during her childhood, she accidentally consumed a magical creature known as a Hunger Faery, which took up residence in her stomach and created a permanent, ravenous hunger that forces her to eat almost constantly to keep it appeased.

Jasminka possesses a cheerful and sweet personality, often greeting others with a warm and friendly demeanor. She is invariably relaxed and easygoing, seemingly undisturbed by most situations and rarely displaying anger. Her defining characteristic is her near-constant consumption of food, ranging from chips and donuts to various sweets, which she carries with her at all times and frequently eats, even during class. This behavior has led the school to label her a troublesome student, much like her outspoken roommate Amanda. Despite this, Jasminka is deeply generous and caring, always willing to share her snacks with anyone around her, using food as a primary means of connecting with and cheering up others.

Her primary motivation is largely simple and immediate, centered on her need to eat and her desire for her friends to be happy. This straightforward nature makes her a supportive and reliable presence. In the story, she often serves as a quietly steadfast member of her friend group, which also includes the main protagonist, Atsuko "Akko" Kagari. Jasminka is always ready to help out when needed, lending her unique abilities to assist with various magical endeavors and schemes. For example, she played a significant role in the preparations for the enchanted parade, acting as a catering manager of sorts by handing out treats to the townspeople. Her constant nibbling even provided the creative spark for the parade's theme, "Happy Time".

Her key relationships are primarily with her roommates, Amanda and Constanze. The three are close friends who are often seen together and routinely find themselves in trouble as a group. Jasminka also maintains a fond relationship with Akko, whom she occasionally offers food, and with Lotte Jansson, with whom she willingly shares her snacks. She demonstrates a caring and protective side towards her circle; when Akko went missing, Jasminka was shown to be genuinely worried and joined the search party to find her. By the end of the series, she is even shown sharing a meal with Hannah England, a former antagonist, suggesting a broadened circle of acquaintances.

Jasminka undergoes minimal overt character development, remaining consistently good-natured and supportive throughout the narrative. However, a deeper understanding of her condition is revealed in the manga adaptation, where Akko, concerned about Jasminka's eating habits, tries to put her on a diet. This leads to the Hunger Faery inside her causing chaos until Akko apologizes and accepts the truth of her friend's unique situation. This event underscores that her eating is not a simple vice but a magical necessity.

She possesses a number of notable abilities that often surprise those who underestimate her. Despite her placid demeanor, she exhibits exceptional physical strength, easily carrying heavy loads and performing strenuous tasks such as lifting large bags of supplies or even carrying her friend Constanze on her shoulder. In terms of magic, she is skilled in standard witch abilities like flying on a broom and using object control magic to move items without touching them. She is also highly proficient in culinary magic, capable of enhancing the flavor of food with spells. A more unique and surprising power is her ability to cast the Graviton Omega spell, which allows her to magically inflate her body to spherical proportions, increasing her weight and enabling her to roll into opponents or act as a heavy, immovable anchor. She also carries vast quantities of snacks which she can use creatively, such as enchanting them to serve as a distraction in a fight.
