OVA
Description
Bloodberry serves as the personal guard to King Virey in the kingdom of Romana and is the most skilled and level-headed of the three royal marionettes. Often acting as the voice of reason and a role model for the others, she is the oldest and most mature of the trio, displaying a calm and collected demeanor even in dire situations. Unlike her energetic companion Lime or the more temperamental Cherry, Bloodberry embodies a composed and reliable presence, which positions her as a cool big sister figure, particularly towards the younger and more inexperienced Lime.
Bloodberry's primary motivation is her duty to protect the royal family. When the king's exiled older son, Starface, stages a coup and seizes control of Romana's army, Bloodberry becomes the last line of defense for the fair king. Forced to flee when overpowered by Starface's personal marionettes, the Sexadolls, she vows to protect the young prince, Virey Junior, and to one day return to save his father. Her role in the story is that of a guardian and a mentor. Recognizing Lime's raw potential and fighting spirit, Bloodberry takes it upon herself to train the youngest Saber Marionette, believing that together they can stand against the usurper and his forces. She often serves as the group's tactical anchor, providing guidance and stepping into battle when the situation is most desperate.
In terms of key relationships, Bloodberry shares a strong bond with the young prince Junior, whom she is sworn to protect. A notable moment in their relationship occurs when she shares a farewell kiss with him, knowing she may not survive the coming battle. Her relationship with Lime is central to her development; she nurtures Lime's abilities and reassures her that it is acceptable to be afraid, a stark contrast to Cherry who is often less patient with the youngest marionette. She also forms a direct rivalry with Brid, the cockiest of Starface's Sexadolls, who dismissively regards Bloodberry as nothing more than a toy. Throughout the OVA, Bloodberry demonstrates significant development, culminating in a heroic sacrifice. At the end of the second episode, with her energy reserves depleted and unable to continue fighting, she chooses to throw herself and her rival Brid off a cliff to stop the Sexadoll's assault, an act that seemingly costs her own life. However, it is ultimately revealed that she survived this fall.
Regarding her abilities, Bloodberry is a highly skilled martial artist, capable of holding her own against multiple assailants without much difficulty. Her most distinctive physical capability is the ability to detach her hands, which are equipped with extension cables reaching up to ten thousand feet, allowing her to use them as grappling tools. While a formidable fighter, even she acknowledges that she is severely underequipped to counter the built-in weapons of the Sexadolls in a fair all-out battle. Her true strength lies in her tactical mind, combat experience, and the mentorship she provides to the other Saber Marionettes.
