Description
Monitamon is a Rookie-level Digimon that appears in the anime series Digimon Fusion. It is a small, green, ninja-like creature with a cathode-ray tube monitor for a head, and its emotions are displayed as images on the screen. Monitamon insists on calling itself a ninja, but its behaviors are closer to those of a stalker, as it derives great enjoyment from watching and observing other Digimon. It is always found spying on someone, and if one Monitamon is spotted, there are likely many more hidden nearby.
Despite its ninja claims, Monitamon possesses a set of basic ninjutsu techniques, though all are relatively weak in combat. These include Fire Shot, a fireball attack; Water Dragon, a water pistol; Wind Wheel, which creates a gust of wind; and Lightning Flash, an electrical discharge. Monitamon’s true strength lies not in battle but in its information‑sharing ability, Sakuteki. This allows it to record everything it observes and instantly transmit that data to other Monitamon, spreading intelligence—whether good, bad, or embarrassing—at incredible speed. This makes Monitamon an invaluable asset for reconnaissance and communication.
In the story of Digimon Fusion, Monitamon serves as a partner Digimon to Nene Amano, a key member of the Fusion Fighters (known as Xros Heart in the original Japanese version). Multiple Monitamon operate together as a group, acting as the team’s eyes and ears. They are frequently deployed to spy on enemy forces, gather information across the Digital World, and relay messages between Nene and the rest of the team. When the situation demands greater combat or analytical power, three Monitamon can DigiFuse into Hi‑Vision Monitamon, a more advanced form that possesses enhanced strength, intelligence, and surveillance capabilities.
Motivationally, Monitamon is driven by its curiosity and its sense of duty to Nene and the Fusion Fighters. It takes pride in its role as a watcher and communicator, and while its methods may seem intrusive, its loyalty to its human partner and the group is steadfast. Over the course of the series, Monitamon does not undergo deep personal development, but it consistently proves its worth through its stealth, information gathering, and the ability to combine with its counterparts when necessary, demonstrating that even a seemingly weak Digimon can contribute significantly to a larger cause.
