Description
Falcomon from Digimon: Data Squad is a specific subspecies of the bird Digimon species, distinguished from other Falcomon by its fully developed wings that grant it free flight through the air. This version of Falcomon carries a strong ninja aesthetic, often appearing from above while riding a kite in a manner reminiscent of a ninja's dramatic entrance.

Initially, Falcomon first appears in the series without his human partner, serving the powerful Digimon Merukimon. During this time, he ventures into the human world on a mission to retrieve another Digimon named Piyomon, though this task ultimately requires his master Merukimon to intervene personally. This early period establishes Falcomon as an antagonist to the main characters, as he is aligned with forces opposed to humanity.

The core of Falcomon's character is defined by his relationship with Keenan Crier, a human boy who was raised in the Digital World after being lost there as a young child. In many significant ways, the typical roles of a Digimon and its human partner are reversed in this pairing. Falcomon acts as a responsible caretaker, effectively raising Keenan and looking after his well-being. This dynamic is particularly evident when Keenan falls ill from a digital virus. Despite his deep-seated hatred for humans at this stage, Falcomon's dedication to his partner compels him to set aside his animosity. He willingly seeks out a cure for the virus and makes the difficult decision to form a temporary alliance with the Data Squad, the very human organization he opposes, believing his sick partner would be safer with their help and reinforcements.

This experience of working alongside his former enemies has a profound effect on Falcomon. He demonstrates a willingness to put his personal feelings aside for a greater purpose, and after this tenuous alliance, he becomes far more tolerant of the Data Squad than his human partner Keenan is. The ordeal forces him to confront his prejudices, as he witnesses his supposed enemies cooperating with him while some of his own allies might turn against him. This development shows his capacity for pragmatism and growth, moving from a staunch opponent of humanity to someone capable of working alongside them when necessary.

Falcomon's personality is defined by a strong sense of responsibility, duty, and protectiveness, particularly toward Keenan. He is a serious and capable Digimon, often acting as the more level-headed member of his partnership, which is necessary given Keenan's feral upbringing and single-minded drive to defeat humans. His abilities complement his ninja motif and his role as a protector. His signature techniques include Scratch Smash, where he uses the claws on his wings to attack opponents, and Shuririnken, which involves repeatedly throwing four-point shuriken made from his own hardened feathers. He also specializes in dropping small bamboo bombs from above while riding his kite, an attack known as Uchitake Otoshi. As the series progresses, Falcomon is capable of evolving into more powerful forms, including the ostrich-like Peckmon, the three-legged crow-themed Crowmon, and finally the humanoid, armored raven knight Ravemon.
