José María Carrero

José María Carrero Marín was a Spanish actor and dubbing director, born in Madrid on October 11, 1954. He studied at the Royal Superior School of Dramatic Art in Madrid. He passed away on February 24, 2015.
Carrero became a prominent figure in Spanish dubbing, particularly for animation, and was closely associated with the distributor Arait Multimedia, where he also served as a recurring dubbing director. His work was characterized by a wide vocal range that allowed him to voice both serious characters and comedic, mischievous ones, sometimes playing multiple roles within the same series.
He is credited with a vast number of voice roles in anime series brought to Spain. Among his most recognized parts were several characters in the Digimon franchise, for which he also directed many of the dubs. These roles included Joe Kido and Tentomon in Digimon Adventure and Digimon 02, Mitsuo Yamaki in Digimon Tamers, Mercurymon and LordKnightmon in Digimon Frontier, and Neon Hanamura and Suguru Daimon in Digimon Data Squad. He was also known for being the second voice of Mark Lenders (Kojiro Hyuga) in Captain Tsubasa. In the Inazuma Eleven series, he voiced Hurley Kane (among other characters) and directed the dubbing. His other notable anime roles included Portgas D. Ace in One Piece, Vato Falman in Fullmetal Alchemist, Heiji Hattori and Kaito Kid in Detective Conan, Goemon Ishikawa III in Lupin III, Fujio Kashikoi in Magical Doremi, and Captain Harlock in a second dub of the series. In the Transformers franchise, he voiced characters such as Cyclonus in Transformers: Armada, Iron Hide in Transformers: Energon, and Leobreaker in Transformers: Cybertron.
Beyond anime, Carrero's voice work extended to western animation, including roles like Drew in Rugrats and Brandon in Winx Club, as well as to video games. His video game credits included characters in World of Warcraft, Diablo III, and as the narrator for Call of Duty 2.
