Nero is a supporting character in the anime Gun x Sword. He is an older man, easily recognized by his short purple hair and blue eyes. Nero is the leader of the Eldora Five, a group of veteran armor pilots who once defended their hometown of Gloria from threats. After their teammate Chizuru passed away, the remaining four members—Nero, Barrio, Jose, and Carlos—spend most of their days at the Pink Amigo restaurant, where Nero frequently drinks himself unconscious while recounting heroic tales from his glory days. He is a boastful and gregarious person, and he immediately takes a liking to the wandering protagonist Van, seeing him as a fellow armor rider worthy of respect. When Van sets out to assault the island of the man with the claw, Nero and the other Eldora Five members choose to join him, lending their seasoned combat experience to the cause. Within the Eldora Five's combined armor, Nero serves as the chief gunner, piloting the armored unit known as Grand Heather. His role in the story is that of a seasoned ally who provides both firepower and encouragement to the main group, and he remains loyal until the final battle. While not a character with a deep internal arc, Nero's commitment to his friends and his enthusiasm for a good fight define his presence in the series.
