TV-Series
Description
Bask Om is a senior officer within the Earth Federation Forces and later becomes a central figure in the Titans, the primary antagonistic organization in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. Physically imposing and completely bald, he is almost always seen wearing a pair of distinctive red goggles. His presence is designed to be intimidating, a trait that he actively cultivates and wields as a tool of control.

Personality and Motivations
Bask Om is defined by an extreme and virulent form of Earth supremacist ideology. He harbors a deep-seated hatred for Spacenoids, the populations living in space colonies, whom he does not consider to be fully human. This belief is the driving force behind all of his actions. He is ruthless, arrogant, and despicable, showing no regard for human life, whether it belongs to an enemy combatant, a civilian, or even his own allies. His philosophy is that absolute force is the only way to maintain Earth's dominance, and he pursues this goal with terrifying single-mindedness. He is also a skilled political operator, using the aftermath of the colony drop in Operation Stardust to help justify the creation of the Titans, demonstrating that his brutality is matched by a shrewd ability to seize power.

Role in the Story and Key Actions
Bask Om serves as the field commander of the Titans, overseeing their most brutal and inhumane operations during the Gryps conflict. He is responsible for numerous atrocities. One of the most infamous is the Colony 30 incident, where he ordered the entire population of a space colony to be exterminated with G-3 poison gas to suppress an anti-Federation rally. He repeats this tactic later in the series, forcing a defector to carry out another poison gas attack on a colony as a test of loyalty. Bask is also directly responsible for the tragedy that sets the protagonist, Kamille Bidan, on his path. He uses Kamille's parents as hostages to lure the Anti-Earth Union Group, a plan that results in the death of Kamille's mother at the hands of a Titans pilot. When the legendary Federation captain Bright Noa questions his tactics during a battle inside a colony, Bask physically assaults him, showing his contempt for anyone who disagrees with him.

Key Relationships
Bask Om holds a deep respect for Jamitov Hyman, the supreme leader of the Titans, as they share the same totalitarian ideology of Earthnoid supremacy. In contrast, he openly distrusts the charismatic officer Paptimus Scirocco, viewing him with suspicion due to his Spacenoid origins. This conflict ultimately leads to Bask's downfall. He has a volatile relationship with his subordinates, ruling through fear and physical abuse. He forces the defector Reccoa Londe to commit atrocities to prove her loyalty, but she eventually turns on him and is the one who destroys his flagship, killing him.

Development and Abilities
Bask Om’s character does not undergo a redemption arc or significant change. He remains a consistent and unwavering villain, with his cruelty and ambition only growing as the war progresses. He begins the series as a key figure in the Titans' founding and ends it by seizing control of their most powerful superweapon, the Gryps 2 colony laser, in a final bid to crush all opposition. His notable abilities lie not in piloting a mobile suit but in command and intimidation. His large stature and booming voice are used to dominate a room, and he has no hesitation in physically beating his own men to enforce obedience. He is a tactical commander who favors overwhelming and indiscriminate firepower, often putting his own forces at risk to achieve his goals, as seen during the Operation Stardust incident where he fired on both friend and foe alike. He meets his end when the bridge of his flagship, the Dogosse Giar, is destroyed by a direct hit, a fittingly abrupt end for a man who caused so much suffering.
