Description
Nobunaga Hazama is a member of the Phantom Troupe, carrying the number one designation. He hails from Meteor City and has been with the group since its founding, making him one of its original members. His Nen type is Enhancement, and he is a master of iaijutsu, the art of swiftly drawing and cutting with a katana. He complements his swordsmanship with the ability En, which he uses to detect enemies within a four‑meter radius, a range that defines the reach of his blade. Nobunaga is recognized within the Troupe as a frontline combatant, often taking on the role of vanguard or even suicide attacker in battle, a role he willingly accepted.

In terms of personality, Nobunaga is among the more approachable members of the Phantom Troupe. He displays a calm demeanor but can become bold and confrontational, frequently clashing with other members such as Franklin, Machi, Feitan, and Phinks over disagreements. Despite his ruthless nature as a killer, he demonstrates a strong sense of camaraderie and is deeply loyal to his fellows. His closest friend within the Troupe is Uvogin; Nobunaga mourned his death intensely and swore vengeance against the one responsible. This sense of loyalty extends to his interactions with outsiders: when he encountered Gon and Killua, he was drawn to their spirit and repeatedly suggested to Chrollo that they be recruited into the Troupe, even smiling warmly at them during their captivity.

During the events of Phantom Rouge, Nobunaga appears alongside Machi to confront a puppet of Uvogin that has been revived and controlled by Omokage, a former Phantom Troupe member. Together, they destroy the puppet and later withdraw, but not before warning Gon and Killua not to interfere in the Troupe’s personal score with Omokage. He joins the other Troupe members later when they arrive at Omokage’s hideout, though they ultimately decide to let Kurapika and Hisoka leave, choosing to settle those accounts another day. Throughout the film, Nobunaga’s motivations are driven by his dedication to the Troupe and his desire to avenge his fallen friend. His abilities are not expanded upon beyond his existing skill set, but his role underscores his reliability as a combatant and his protective instincts toward his comrades.
