TV-Series
Description
Darjeeling is a third-year student at St. Gloriana Girls Academy and serves as the overall commander of its Sensha-do team, operating a Churchill Mk. VII tank as its commander. She is seventeen years old and stands at 158 centimeters tall, with blonde hair typically styled in a braid and light blue eyes. Despite the foreign theme of her school, she is Japanese, and her name, like those of her teammates, is derived from a type of tea.
Her personality is defined by a calm, collected, and chivalrous demeanor, and she is known for rarely losing her composure under any circumstances. She consistently speaks politely to others, never behaves arrogantly despite leading a strong team, and readily acknowledges the abilities of her opponents. A defining trait is her fondness for tea, which she is almost always seen drinking, and she has a habit of quoting proverbs and sayings from famous poets and authors. Her personal motto includes the line, "No matter how fast we go, or no matter how many hits we take, I will never spill my tea".
Darjeeling is a highly strategic thinker with an excellent ability to see the larger picture of a match. Her tactical skill is demonstrated on several occasions, such as when she deduced the nature of Saunders radio interception tactics simply by watching the match on a monitor, and when she recognized Katyusha's trap during the Pravda match while others only saw a potential victory for Oarai. She is particularly adept at utilizing her Churchill tank, bringing out its full potential. In the story, she first appears when her school accepts a practice match against Oarai Girls Academy. Following St. Gloriana's victory, she gains respect for Miho Nishizumi's skills and gifts her a tea set, signifying that she considers Oarai a worthy friend. Afterwards, she becomes a frequent spectator of Oarai's matches, always offering quiet commentary and support.
She shares a close and trusted relationship with her teammates, particularly Orange Pekoe, who serves as her loader and is often seen by her side. She also has a younger sister. Her primary motivation is her love for Sensha-do and her desire to lead her team to victory with elegance and honor. Before the events of the final chapters, it is revealed that she has been accepted to a university in the United Kingdom. She expressed a wish to achieve a significant victory before departing for England.
Throughout the series, Darjeeling is notable as the only commander who has never lost to Miho Nishizumi in a direct match, having secured victories in two friendly encounters. In the theatrical film, she plays a crucial role in forming the All-Stars University Team to oppose the大学 selection team, temporarily transferring to Oarai to fight alongside them and serving as a company commander under Miho. Beyond her tactical abilities, Darjeeling is also known for being a terrible cook, a skill in which her attempts at British cuisine are notably unsuccessful. She is, however, exceptionally talented and lucky in games, consistently defeating her teammates at activities ranging from table tennis and arcade games to poker and bowling. Her favorite tanks are the British Centurion and Challenger, and her favorite food is fish and chips.
