Her encounter with protagonist Suzume Iwato begins when Suzume helps retrieve oranges spilled from Chika’s scooter, immediately revealing Chika’s approachable and friendly nature as they form a quick rapport. Upon learning Suzume and her companion must reach an abandoned school to confront an earthquake-linked supernatural threat, Chika offers them transportation without hesitation.

After the group addresses the threat, Chika extends overnight hospitality at her family’s inn. During the stay, Suzume assists Chika with cleaning duties, emphasizing the collaborative spirit of their surroundings. Chika also provides Suzume with casual clothing for the night.
