Description
Haida, a spotted hyena character from Aggretsuko, bears a name derived from the Japanese pronunciation of "hyena." His grayish-brown fur features a dark gray muzzle adorned with freckle-like cheek spots, black ears with gray tufts, hazel eyes, and a pronounced underbite. Professionally, he dons a white dress shirt, red tie, black dress pants, and brown dress shoes. Casually, he favors a red-and-black striped tee or a red shirt with a black Union Jack logo, paired with a black leather jacket, jeans, and boots. In winter, he wears an olive green coat with a white fur hood.

Born into wealth, Haida endured relentless pressure from his conservative politician father, Juzo, who deemed him a failure while favoring younger brother Jiro. This dynamic—fueled by Juzo’s contempt over Haida’s antisocial high-school band videos—fostered brotherly estrangement and ingrained Haida with chronic self-doubt.

As an accountant at Carrier Man Trading Co., he worked alongside Retsuko and Fenneko, nurturing a five-year unrequited crush on Retsuko after witnessing her refill a water bottle post-work, shattering his "vanilla" impression. Hindered by indecision, he silently supported her through relationships with Resasuke and Tadano, eventually forging a mutual romance by Season 4’s end.

Neurotic and passive, Haida battles social anxiety through punk rock bass performances and alcohol, yet reveals core loyalty when risking himself to rescue Retsuko from a stalker. His vulnerability to manipulation led to financial fraud under Himuro’s brief directorship, culminating in his resignation after Retsuko confronted him.

Season 5 intensified his arc: jobless and evicted from his family-owned apartment, he hid in an internet cafe, gaming compulsively until Retsuko intervened. Moving in with her, he faced his father’s insults toward Retsuko and survived a family-ordered hit-and-run. Defying Juzo, he backed Retsuko’s political campaign despite Jiro’s threats. Post-reconciliation with Jiro—who rebelled after learning of the attack—Haida married Retsuko, evolving into an assured partner.

Key bonds include Fenneko’s cynically supportive friendship, Anai’s wary-to-respectful dynamic (though Anai refused him shelter), and a short-lived romance with Inui, ended by Haida’s unresolved feelings for Retsuko.
