Description
Jeaha, known as the Green Dragon, is a member of the pirate crew led by Captain Gigan in the port town of Awa. He is a descendant of one of the four legendary dragon warriors, inheriting the power of the original Green Dragon, which is a right leg that grants him the ability of limited flight. His background in his ancestral village felt stifling to him, leading him to reject the preordained destiny tied to his lineage and run away to pursue a life of freedom on his own terms. Jeaha is a wily and highly egotistical individual who possesses a deep and open appreciation for beauty. This love for beauty influences many of his actions, and he maintains a smooth, flirtatious demeanor that others sometimes misinterpret as perverse. While he enjoys his rakish lifestyle, he is also capable and cunning, traits that serve him well as a pirate.
Jeaha’s primary motivation when first encountered is a fierce determination to live his own life without being bound by what he sees as the destiny of his ancestor. He initially has no interest in protecting Princess Yona, referring to the idea of serving a master as a trap and expressing annoyance at the perceived obligation. His role in the story begins as the fourth and final dragon warrior whom Yona and her companions seek to recruit. His initial resistance sets him apart from the other dragons, as he actively tries to avoid being found and fights against the involuntary physical bond that compels him to kneel before Yona. He views his fellow dragon, Gija, as a puppet dragon who has accepted the bond without question, which further solidifies his own reluctance. Despite his resistance, he eventually joins Yona's group after finding himself drawn to her determination and unique character. Within the group, he often takes on the role of a mischievous older brother figure, particularly delighting in teasing Hak about his obvious but unspoken feelings for Yona. He develops a strong mutual respect and fast friendship with Hak, whom he admires and even tries to recruit for the pirate crew before his own recruitment.
Over the course of his journey with Yona, Jeaha undergoes significant development. While he continues to project an image of a carefree and flirtatious playboy, he struggles with his own deepening feelings for Yona. He worries that his affection is not genuine but rather a forced result of his dragon blood, and he uses his rakish persona to distract both himself and others from this internal conflict. This struggle demonstrates a vulnerability beneath his confident exterior. His protective instincts, which are part of his nature, eventually align with his own will, leading him to become a fiercely loyal and indispensable member of the Happy Hungry Bunch, the name given to Yona's group. Beyond his signature ability of flight using his powerful right leg, Jeaha has no other supernatural gifts and is as vulnerable to injury and weakness as any other human.
