Description
Kisara Tendō is the president of the Tendo Civil Security Corporation and the boss of the protagonist, Rentaro Satomi, who works for her company as a Promoter. She is a striking young woman of sixteen years with a pale complexion and sharp violet eyes that convey both intelligence and intensity. Her dark, nearly black hair is cut in a traditional Japanese princess style, falling straight and choppy around her face, which she pairs almost exclusively with the uniform of the prestigious Meiji Girls' School. This outfit consists of a black dress and sailor-style top, with a red ribbon at her chest and black thigh-high stockings, a look that is both refined and distinctly her own.
On the surface, Kisara presents herself as a serious and pragmatic businesswoman who insists on being called president even by those who know her personally. She is sharp-tongued, quick to point out the faults of others, and often exasperated by the people around her, particularly Rentaro, whom she regularly calls an idiot or a fool in their comedic daily arguments. She can come across as haughty and demanding, and due to the poor finances of her struggling company, she lives a life of surprising poverty, sometimes so hungry that she is forced to sneak meals at Rentaro's home. However, this cold and difficult exterior masks a far more complex and darker interior. Kisara is driven by an all-consuming hatred for the Tendō family, her own relatives. She harbors a deep and unwavering desire for revenge, blaming her grandfather and other family members for the death of her parents when she was a child. This desire is the central pillar of her life, and she has dedicated herself entirely to becoming what she calls absolute evil in order to destroy evil itself, believing that justice alone is powerless.
In her childhood, Kisara was the daughter of a prestigious family who lived alongside Rentaro after he was taken in by her grandfather. Their lives were shattered when a Gastrea monster attacked them, an incident that killed her parents, left her with severe kidney damage, and cost Rentaro several of his limbs. Realizing this attack was a conspiracy by the Tendō family, she fled her home with Rentaro and founded their civil security agency. Her kidney failure is a constant burden; she refuses a transplant or artificial replacement, choosing to endure the pain and regular dialysis as a physical reminder of her oath of vengeance and the loss of her parents. As a result, she is physically fragile and cannot engage in prolonged combat, forcing her to manage the company's clerical work while Rentaro and his partner Enju handle field operations.
Kisara's role in the story is that of a strategic mastermind and a powerful, if hidden, ace. While she appears to be a non-combatant, she is secretly a master of the Tendō Sword Style, a fact she keeps hidden until necessary. Her motivations are strictly personal: to locate and kill every member of the Tendō family who was complicit in her parents' murder, a list that includes her own brothers and her grandfather. This path puts her in constant conflict with the more idealistic Rentaro, who fights to protect the world, while she fights only for her personal grudge. Her most significant relationship is with Rentaro, her childhood savior and the person she loves deeply. However, her obsession with revenge creates a barrier between them. She feels intense guilt at the idea of finding personal happiness before her mission is complete and becomes jealous when other women show interest in Rentaro. She also shares a home with Rentaro's young Initiator partner Enju Aihara, and later becomes the Promoter for Tina Sprout, forming a new combat duo.
As the story progresses, Kisara’s dark side becomes undeniable. She develops a sadistic and merciless demeanor when facing her targets, culminating in a pivotal moment where she brutally kills her older brother without hesitation, smiling as she reveals that her technique had cut him in half. This act horrifies Rentaro and strains their relationship, as she openly admits she is truly evil and cannot be anything else. Despite this darkness, she eventually shares a moment of vulnerability and romance with Rentaro, where they confess their feelings for one another, proving that her humanity is still present beneath the layers of vengeance.
Despite her physical frailty, Kisara is an exceptionally dangerous combatant, often called the most dangerous person by other characters. She is a master swordswoman and a grandmaster (Menkyo Kaiden) of the Tendō Sword Drawing Style, a deadly form of iaido. To better serve her revenge, she even created her own secret technique, the Zeroth Style, a forbidden move designed specifically to kill her own family members. Her skill is such that she can slice objects from over ten meters away and possess enough power to defeat a powerful level four Gastrea in a single strike. Her weapon is the Killing Blade Snow Shadow, a cursed family heirloom sword that is said to lead unsteady hearts to ruin, which she wields with extraordinary mastery.
