Description
Tsumugu Kinagase, a scientist and operative for the anti-Life Fiber group Nudist Beach, carries a past marked by tragedy. His older sister, Kinue, perished during a prototype Kamui experiment under Isshin Matoi (later identified as Sōichirō Kiryūin), her body consumed by the Life Fiber suit. This trauma ignited his vendetta against Life Fibers, fueling his dedication to Nudist Beach’s mission.
A towering figure with a muscular build, Tsumugu sports short black hair accented by a vivid red mohawk, piercing blue eyes, and a nose bandage. His combat-ready guerrilla attire features tactical belts, ammunition pouches, and specialized armaments tailored to destroy Life Fibers. These include needle-firing guns modeled after sewing machines, thread-spool explosives, smoke bombs, and the Dōtonbori Robo mecha.
Rigorously methodical, Tsumugu approaches conflicts with strategic precision, often prefacing confrontations with his signature phrase: “There are two things you need to know.” Initially dismissive of bonds between humans and Kamui, he deems the sentient uniforms parasitic, clashing fiercely with Ryūko Matoi to sever her connection to Senketsu. Only after the Kamui telepathically defends her does he begrudgingly accept their symbiosis, later allying with them against threats like Nonon Jakuzure and Ragyō Kiryūin.
Beyond his antagonistic origins, Tsumugu becomes a pivotal strategist, coordinating traps and stealth operations alongside Aikurō Mikisugi and Honnouji Academy’s reformed Elite Four. His ingenuity shines in battles where he outmaneuvers enhanced foes using raw skill and anti-Life Fiber tech.
Fan speculation hints at a potential blood relation to Ryūko, citing shared physical traits and Senketsu’s unexplained ability to communicate with him. Yet this remains unverified in canon.
Though his resolve to eradicate Life Fibers never wavers, Tsumugu evolves from ideological rigidity to pragmatic alliances. Post-war, he persists as a key Nudist Beach agent, leveraging his expertise in a world liberated from Life Fiber control.
