Description
Mako Mankanshoku is a second-year student at Honnouji Academy and the closest friend of Ryuko Matoi. She lives in the slums of Honno City with her family: her father, who works as a back-alley doctor, her mother, her delinquent younger brother, and the family’s pet pug, Guts. Mako’s living conditions are poor, but she remains cheerful and unfazed by her circumstances, embracing her family’s loud and loving dynamic. She instantly declares Ryuko her best friend upon their first meeting and welcomes her into the Mankanshoku home without hesitation.
Mako’s personality is defined by extreme hyperactivity, unwavering optimism, and a generally carefree attitude. She is often described as an airhead, frequently falling asleep in class and struggling academically, yet she possesses a sharp intuition and a deep emotional sensitivity.
