Description
Kizashi Haruno is a shinobi from the Hidden Leaf Village and the father of Sakura Haruno, husband to Mebuki Haruno. In the alternate world created by the Limited Tsukuyomi in the film, he is depicted as the Fourth Hokage who, together with his wife, sacrificed his life to seal the Nine‑Tails into Menma, the alternate version of Naruto. This heroic act elevates Sakura to the status of “Child of Heroes” in that world. In the real world, Kizashi is a living, ordinary shinobi who, along with his wife, expresses doubts about Sakura’s capabilities as a ninja, contributing to Sakura’s initial frustration.
Kizashi is characterized by a cheerful and lighthearted personality. He enjoys telling bad puns and frequently cracks jokes, reflecting a pleasant and approachable demeanor. This trait is consistent across both the real and alternate depictions and suggests a father who cares for his daughter and seeks to maintain a joyful family atmosphere.
In the story of the film, his role is twofold. In the real world, he and his wife represent ordinary parents whose expectations create a minor conflict with Sakura. In the alternate world, his heroic sacrifice and status as Hokage serve as a narrative contrast, underlining the film’s themes of family, loss, and appreciation. The alternate‑world version becomes a symbol of heroism, and his Hokage cloak is later used by Naruto.
Key relationships are central to his character. His bond with Sakura is the most significant: in the real world, they have a typical parent–child relationship with some tension, but at the film’s conclusion Sakura tearfully reunites with him, reaffirming their familial connection. His relationship with Mebuki is that of a supportive husband, and together they are partners both in life and, in the alternate world, in sacrifice.
Kizashi undergoes little direct character development in the film, but his contrasting roles highlight the impact of parental presence and absence on Sakura’s emotional journey. As a shinobi, he demonstrates sufficient skill and capability to be considered for the position of Hokage in the alternate timeline, though no specific jutsu or combat abilities are prominently featured. His most notable physical trait is his pink hair, which his daughter inherits.
