Description
Lisa Lisa, whose true name is Elizabeth Joestar, is a central ally in the Battle Tendency arc of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Her backstory begins as an infant aboard the ship attacked by Dio Brando at the end of Phantom Blood, where her mother was killed by a zombie. Jonathan Joestar rescued her and entrusted her to his wife, Erina, who then gave the baby to the Hamon master Straizo. Straizo raised and trained Elizabeth in the art of Hamon until she turned eighteen. As a young adult, she married George Joestar II, with whom she had a son, Joseph. George was killed by a zombie disguised as a high-ranking military officer. Elizabeth avenged her husband by destroying the zombie, but to avoid legal retaliation for the killing, the Speedwagon Foundation helped her erase her identity and flee to Italy, where she adopted the alias Lisa Lisa.

Her personality is composed and fierce, marked by wisdom and a strong sense of responsibility. She is determined to eradicate the Pillar Men and protect the legacy of Hamon. Despite her serious demeanor, she can also display moments of playfulness with her students. Her primary motivation arises from her commitment to the Hamon tradition and her duty to stop the Pillar Men from obtaining the Red Stone of Aja, which she safeguards.

In the story, Lisa Lisa first appears as a mysterious Hamon master living in Venice. She serves as the mentor to both Caesar Zeppeli and Joseph Joestar, training them intensively on Air Suplena Island to prepare them for battle against the Pillar Men. She leads the efforts of Hamon users in the conflict and directly fights against the Pillar Men, notably defeating the enemy Wired Beck. Late in the arc, it is revealed that she is Joseph Joestar's long-lost mother, a truth she personally shares with him at Caesar Zeppeli's funeral.

Her key relationships include her role as mentor and mother figure to Joseph, her deep respect and guidance for Caesar Zeppeli as his teacher, her upbringing under Straizo, and her alliance with the Speedwagon Foundation. She also shares a history of loss and duty with her late husband, George Joestar II. Her character develops from a distant, enigmatic instructor into a selfless hero who sacrifices much for the sake of her son and the greater good.

In terms of abilities, Lisa Lisa is a supremely skilled Hamon user. Her mastery allows her to channel Hamon through objects, most notably a scarf that she uses as a weapon to cut or deflect attacks. She employs precise, thin layers of Hamon energy for powerful strikes, utilizes Hamon breathing to enhance her physical capabilities, and can focus her energy for healing purposes. Her Hamon control is so refined that it allows her to maintain a youthful appearance well into her fifties. Despite her formidable skills, her effectiveness in direct combat can be limited by stamina and the need for concentration, as seen when she is gravely wounded by Kars after being tricked by a double. After the events of Battle Tendency, she eventually remarries a Hollywood screenwriter.
