Description
Giselle Collette Vingt, often called GiGi or Gisey by those close to her, is a central character in the story. She is the best friend and navigator of the vanship pilot Fam Fan Fan, serving as a calm and grounded counterpart to Fam's reckless and impulsive nature. At fifteen years old, Giselle is the eldest daughter of the Sky Pirate chief Atamora Collette, a position that has instilled in her a strong sense of responsibility.

Giselle is characterized by her quiet, introverted, and thoughtful personality. Unlike the boisterous and sometimes embarrassing public antics of her friend Fam, Giselle is more reserved and easily flustered, yet her loyalty is absolute. She often handles the practical aspects of their life, easily managing housework such as cooking and cleaning while also caring for her younger siblings. This domestic competence is balanced by a sharp, analytical mind. Giselle is a self-described mechanical enthusiast who keeps a personal journal filled with technical diagrams and designs of the many airships she encounters. Her primary role in the vanship is as the navigator, where her specific talent lies in collecting, storing, and analyzing vast amounts of battleship- and military-related data to support Fam's piloting. She is noted for having a near-genius level understanding of battleship design and a photographic memory, which frequently proves crucial to the success of their daring plans.

Giselle's motivation is deeply intertwined with her relationship with Fam Fan Fan. She acts as the anchor to Fam’s ambition, providing the technical and emotional support needed to turn their shared dreams into reality. She is driven by a desire to protect Fam and to find a place for them in the world, a goal that becomes increasingly complex as they are drawn into a larger political conflict. As a survivor of past wars, she is also haunted by loss and is determined to find a way to end the conflict that plagues their world and bring about peace.

Her background as a Sky Pirate is central to her identity. She and Fam grew up together within a large, close-knit family of pirates. A significant event in her past was participating in the Grand Race with her entire family, a contest her father won, though it ended abruptly with the death of the Empress of Ades. Giselle herself seems to have only vague memories of this event. Furthermore, Giselle is herself a survivor of a vanship crash, being the only one found alive, a past trauma that adds a layer of resilience to her character.

Giselle’s most significant relationship is undoubtedly with Fam Fan Fan. They are inseparable partners, relying on each other completely. While Fam is the bold, visible pilot, Giselle is the silent genius in the backseat, and Fam frequently refers to their efforts as we, acknowledging their partnership as a single unit. Beyond her immediate family, Giselle forms a key relationship with Princess Millia il Velch Curetta Turan, whom she and Fam rescue. Together, the three form the core of the resistance against the Ades Federation.

Throughout the narrative, Giselle undergoes notable development. While she begins as a primarily supportive character in the background, her quiet strength and intelligence consistently prove essential. She moves from simply enabling Fam's ambitions to becoming a more active agent in their shared cause. Her abilities as a navigator and analyst become not just a support function but a primary strategic asset, allowing her to take a more proactive role as the story progresses. Her calm demeanor and analytical mind serve as a steadying influence on Fam and their allies, allowing her to grow from a caretaker into a key strategist and a reliable pillar of strength in their fight for peace. Her quiet reliability and hidden talents make her an inspirational figure, demonstrating that strength often lies not in loud action but in quiet competence and unwavering loyalty.
