Description
Airi Komiyama is a central character in the anime Those Who Hunt Elves. She is a 24-year-old woman of American and Japanese background who works as a talented and famous Hollywood actress. Possessing striking good looks, she has brown eyes and purple hair that is cut to neck length.

Personality-wise, Airi is the cool-headed and strategic core of the main trio. She is known for her exceptional skill as an actress, able to switch from one emotion to another in an instant, a talent that proves invaluable in the fantasy world where she finds herself. Rather than relying on brute force, Airi prefers to use cunning and trickery to resolve difficult situations, and she is an expert in disguise. She has a remarkably high IQ of 450, which allows her to quickly and accurately assess any given situation and formulate effective plans. Despite her intelligence and perceptiveness, she is portrayed as being surprisingly clueless regarding the romantic feelings that another member of the group, Junpei, has for her.

Airi’s primary motivation throughout the story is to return to her own world and her life in Japan. It is suggested that of the three humans from Earth, she is perhaps the most determined to find a way back home. Her role in the group is that of the strategist and planner. While Junpei acts as the impulsive muscle and Ritsuko provides technical and military knowledge, Airi devises the schemes and uses her performance skills to extract them from the predicaments they frequently encounter. She is often the one who must prevent Junpei’s more reckless impulses from making a situation worse. In combat, Airi carries a katana sword for self-defense, alongside a makeup compact kit that she uses for her disguises.

Regarding her key relationships, Airi travels with Junpei Ryuzouji, a martial artist who is openly infatuated with her, and Ritsuko Inoue, a high school girl with a fascination for military weaponry. Together, they are aided by a sentient Type 74 tank and an elf sorceress named Celcia. While Junpei’s affections for her are blatant, Airi remains largely unaware of them throughout most of the anime. The group dynamic relies on her level-headedness to balance the more chaotic elements of the team.

Airi’s development is subtle in the anime, largely maintaining her role as the unflappable professional. However, source material from the manga shows further character growth. In the manga, it is hinted that she is more aware of the group's interpersonal affections than she lets on. Eventually, she comes to realize that she has fallen in love with Junpei as well, though this realization occurs under circumstances that leave it uncertain if Junpei ever becomes aware of her feelings.

Her notable abilities extend beyond mere acting. She is a master of disguise, capable of convincingly portraying other people, including elves, to gather information or execute plans. Her strategic mind is her greatest asset, making her the de facto leader in many situations where careful planning is required to overcome a challenge.
