Michie Tomizawa is a veteran Japanese actress, voice actress, and singer born on October 20, 1961, in Nagano Prefecture and raised in Gunma Prefecture. She is affiliated with Aoni Production and has been active in the entertainment industry since her debut in 1983. Her career is distinguished by several iconic roles that have left a significant mark on anime and gaming culture.

Tomizawa began her career taking on small roles in television animation, with an early notable part as Jeanne Francaix in The Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross in 1984. The latter half of the 1980s saw her career gain momentum with key roles such as Linna Yamazaki in the original video animation Bubblegum Crisis (1987) and Manami Kasuga in the television series Kimagure Orange Road (1987). She also voiced the character C-Ko in the Project A-ko film series during this period.

The 1990s solidified her status as a leading voice actress. In 1992, she began voicing two of her most famous characters: Rei Hino, also known as Sailor Mars, in the immensely popular Sailor Moon series, and Matsuzaka-sensei (Miss Matsuzaka) in the long-running comedy Crayon Shin-chan. These roles showcased her ability to portray strong-willed and passionate characters. She continued with prominent parts throughout the decade, including Emi Ogasawara in Ghost Sweeper Mikami (1993). In 1996, she took on the role of Sumire Kanzaki in the game and anime franchise Sakura Wars, a character that would become another cornerstone of her career, closely tying her to the franchise's musical stage performances.

In the early 2000s, following her marriage, Tomizawa temporarily stepped away from her role as Sumire Kanzaki in the Sakura Wars series, which led to a period of public confusion and rumors of her complete retirement from voice acting. However, she clarified that she was not retiring and eventually returned to the role fully by 2005. Since then, she has continued to work, reprising Sumire Kanzaki in Sakura Wars the Animation (2020) and taking on new roles such as the powerful Roberta in Black Lagoon (2006) and Chikage Kuroba in Magic Kaito (2015).

Beyond her extensive anime work, Tomizawa has a prolific career in video games, providing the voice for characters like Rachel in the Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series, Jenna Angel in the Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga games, and Jacqueline Natla in the Japanese dub of the original Tomb Raider. She is also known for her work in dubbing foreign films and television series, providing the Japanese voice for Pamela Anderson's character C.J. Parker in Baywatch. Her talents extend to live-action performance, with appearances in the tokusatsu genre in series like Choriki Sentai Ohranger and Voicelugger.

Tomizawa is also recognized as a singer, having performed character songs and theme songs for the series she has been involved in.
