Description
Musubi is the main female protagonist of the Sekirei series and the first Sekirei bonded to Minato Sahashi, designated as Sekirei number 88. Her initial encounter with Minato occurs when she literally falls from the sky while being pursued by other Sekirei, and his kindness causes her Sekirei Crest to react, forming a permanent Ashikabi bond. She is a power‐strength type Sekirei who specializes in hand‐to‐hand combat, relying on her greatly enhanced physical strength and the heavy combat gloves she always wears to deliver powerful punches and kicks. Her attire consists of a short red skirt and an upper garment resembling a miko’s robe, possibly inherited from the Sekirei Yume, whose powers she later inherits. Musubi is characterized by a naive, positive, and insightful personality; she often says things she does not fully understand and is considered the most innocent and childish of Minato’s Sekirei, even more so than the young Kusano. Despite this, she is extremely eager to fight strong opponents and never fails to be polite, usually introducing herself and asking for permission before engaging in battle. Her primary motivations are to protect Minato, to become his wife (a decision she makes after hearing Tsukiumi declare herself Minato’s wife), and to prove herself as a capable warrior. She has an enormous appetite, which Miya Asama jokingly calls an “airheaded glutton,” and she is a decent cook who can make curry in large quantities. In moments of extreme emotion such as anger or jealousy, a ferocious black bear apparition appears behind her, earning her the nickname “The Bear” from other characters like Benitsubasa. Her known attacks include Bear Fist and Bear Meteor, and her Norito incantation is “By the fists of my contract, shatter the perils of my Ashikabi!” Throughout the story, Musubi plays a central role in Minato’s team, participating in nearly every major Sekirei battle. She grows significantly by becoming a disciple of Miya, the strongest Sekirei, which deepens her combat proficiency and emotional maturity. Her key relationships include her deep bond with Minato, which drives much of the narrative and is both romantic and protective; a competitive yet respectful rivalry with Tsukiumi over Minato’s affection; and a warm camaraderie with her fellow Sekirei, especially Kusano, Matsu, Kazehana, and Homura. In the final stage of the Sekirei Plan, after all the other Ashikabi collapse, Musubi is chosen to represent Minato and the other Sekirei in a decisive battle on Kouten against Miya. With the combined life‐forces of Minato’s other Sekirei, she defeats Miya and becomes the new Guardian of Kouten, a role in which she restores all fallen Sekirei. After a year of separation, she returns to Minato’s side, and in the epilogue they reunite permanently. Her notable abilities include immense physical strength, high stamina and endurance, the bear manifestation during intense emotion, and eventually the inherited powers of Yume, which amplify her already formidable combat capabilities. Her development from a naive, fight‐hungry girl into a mature protector and guardian underscores her importance to the story and to the resolution of the Sekirei Plan.
