Description
Shimazu Toyohisa, a historical samurai born in 1570 of the Shimazu clan, fought in pivotal battles like Sekigahara in 1600. Fatally wounded after impaling himself on spears to kill commander Ii Naomasa, he unexpectedly traversed a corridor guided by a figure named Murasaki into a realm inhabited by non-human races.

He appears as a young man with short, messy dark brown hair and light grey eyes, clad in red-lacquered Late Sengoku-period samurai armor over a black shitagi, waraji footwear, and white tabi socks. His arsenal features a nodachi, wakizashi, and a tanegashima matchlock firearm used when blades prove unsuitable.

Toyohisa's personality merges seeming recklessness with strategic intellect. He revels openly in warfare, displaying blood knight tendencies since his first kill at age fourteen. Despite this aggression, he adheres to a strict moral code: sparing unarmed foes, shielding non-combatants, and unleashing extreme violence against perpetrators of atrocities like rape or enslavement. Witnessing the abuse of elven women provoked a merciless slaughter, shattering his usual restraint. He maintains cheerful combat banter, often demanding opponents "leave their head here." Allies and enemies alike perceive him as unpredictable and intimidating, though figures like Oda Nobunaga discern hidden tactical acumen beneath his impulsive exterior.

His combat prowess is formidable. He dispatches multiple armored foes with single sword strikes and decapitates mounted soldiers. Beyond physical skill, he exhibits superhuman pain tolerance, fighting through impalement and grave injuries. He employs unorthodox tactics, like using defensive charms as launch platforms or provoking enemies into errors. While frequently charging without threat assessment, he adapts intelligently once grasping opponents' capabilities.

In the new world, Toyohisa allied with displaced warriors Oda Nobunaga and Nasu no Yoichi. He spearheaded liberating enslaved elves and dwarves from the human-supremacist Orte Empire, inspiring oppressed races with impassioned speeches. Leading assaults on Orte fortifications, he utilized deception such as infiltrating enemy positions using captured uniforms. During these campaigns, he enforced strict rules of engagement: initially forbidding killing surrendered soldiers but executing them without mercy upon discovering their crimes against elven women. Confronting Ends member Joan of Arc, he subdued her physically yet refused to kill her due to his prohibition against harming women, inadvertently partially restoring her sanity.

Key relationships define his interactions. With Nobunaga, he shares a surrogate father-son bond; Nobunaga views him as redemption for failing his biological son and intends to crown him king. Toyohisa respects Nobunaga’s strategic mind but often disregards his plans, prioritizing battlefield instincts. He acts as a moral anchor for Nobunaga’s ambitions and Yoichi’s trauma-induced pragmatism. His rivalry with Ends member Hijikata Toshizo culminated in a brutal stalemate where Toyohisa defended his combat pragmatism as true respect—employing any means necessary for victory.

Toyohisa perceives his displacement as a second chance to achieve a "glorious death" after his perceived failure at Sekigahara. He rejects leadership roles despite his influence, considering himself merely a "brat of the battlefield" undeserving of legacy. This self-view fuels his death-seeking valor while paradoxically driving him to protect allies and vulnerable populations throughout conflicts.
