Description
Libra Dohko is the Gold Saint of the Libra constellation in the 18th century Holy War depicted in Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas. His name, of both Chinese and Japanese origin, translates to small tiger. He was born in China and trained in the legendary land of the hermits, a remote and mystical region before being summoned to the Sanctuary. Dohko trained alongside Shion of Aries and Suikyo of the Cup, forming a close brotherhood during their early years as Saints. When the Holy War against Hades drew near, Dohko and Shion were elevated from their previous ranks to become Gold Saints, with Dohko receiving the Libra Cloth.

In his youth during the events of The Lost Canvas, Dohko displays a personality marked by a mix of fierce loyalty and a degree of rashness and immaturity, though he holds deep respect for his comrades. He becomes particularly furious when he perceives his allies to be in danger, showcasing a passionate and protective nature. His motivations are rooted in his devotion to Athena and his determination to protect his fellow Saints, especially the young Pegasus Saint Tenma, whom he trains. Dohko is driven by a strong sense of justice and an unwavering commitment to the cause of the Sanctuary, even when it places him in the thick of the most dangerous battles.

His role in the story is that of a powerful frontline warrior and a mentor figure. Dohko is one of the key Gold Saints who directly confront the forces of Hades, participating in many of the most critical engagements of the Holy War. He serves as a pillar of strength and reliability for the younger Saints, particularly Tenma, whom he guides and protects. After the war, Dohko is entrusted with the vital mission of guarding the seal that imprisons Hades and his 108 Specters at the Five Ancient Peaks of Rozan, a duty that extends for centuries.

Dohko shares a significant bond with Shion of Aries, his lifelong friend and the only other Gold Saint to survive the 18th century war. Their relationship is one of mutual respect and deep trust, having fought alongside each other for years. His most prominent relationship in The Lost Canvas is with Pegasus Tenma, whom he trains and mentors, recognizing the importance of the Pegasus Saint's role in defeating Hades. Dohko also demonstrates profound respect for his fellow Gold Saints, viewing them as brothers-in-arms. His connection to the land of the hermits, where he was raised and trained, is another key aspect of his background, as revealed in the Gaiden stories, where he returns to face remnants of his past.

Throughout the narrative, Dohko undergoes noticeable development. At the start of the Holy War, he is still a relatively young and somewhat impulsive warrior. As the war progresses and he witnesses the sacrifices and immense scale of the conflict, he matures into a more composed and strategically minded fighter, embodying the wisdom and strength expected of a Gold Saint. His growth is also marked by the physical and emotional toll of the war. The Gaiden stories set after the war show him dealing with the long aftermath of his vigil, facing new threats while burdened by the Misopethamenos technique that slows his aging, forcing him to confront how the world moves on while he remains largely unchanged.

Dohko possesses immense physical strength and a powerful cosmos. His primary techniques are derived from the Rozan school of martial arts. His signature attack is the Rozan Sho Ryu Ha, also known as the Wrath of the Dragon, which unleashes a devastating energy blast in the form of a dragon. A more powerful variant is the Rozan Hyaku Ryu Ha, or Wrath of the Hundred Dragons, which summons a hundred draconic energy streams to overwhelm an opponent. He is also a master of the Libra Cloth, which is unique among Gold Cloths for carrying six distinct weapons, including a tonfa, trident, sword, shield, twin rods, and triple rod, each containing immense destructive power that can only be unleashed when Athena deems the cause just. Dohko is also the recipient of the Misopethamenos, a technique granted by Athena that reduces his heart rate to one hundred thousand beats per year, allowing him to live for centuries while aging at a minuscule rate, a gift that enables him to watch over Hades seal. His fighting style is powerful and direct, often relying on his raw cosmos and the might of his techniques to overcome his enemies.
