TV-Series
Description
Miyuki Kobayakawa is one of the two central protagonists of the You're Under Arrest franchise, including the third television season You're Under Arrest: Full Throttle. She was born on April 7, 1976, and stands 1.66 meters tall with black hair and purple eyes. She comes from a family with a strong law enforcement background: her father was a police detective and her grandfather was a highly respected officer, which instilled in her a deep sense of justice and a desire to follow in their footsteps. Miyuki is a police officer assigned to the Bokuto Police Station in Tokyo's Sumida Ward, where she works alongside her partner and roommate Natsumi Tsujimoto. At the start of Full Throttle, she returns to active duty after completing forensics training in the United States.
Miyuki's personality contrasts sharply with that of her more impulsive and physically aggressive partner. She is punctual, shy, diligent, and highly self-disciplined. She approaches her work with an analytical and logical mindset, often relying on her keen observational skills and methodical thinking to solve problems. She has a strong sense of responsibility and holds herself to high standards, sometimes becoming overly self-critical when she perceives a failure. Her perfectionism and adherence to rules make her a reliable officer, though she can be rigid in her thinking. She is also notably fearful of anything that cannot be explained by science, such as supernatural or paranormal phenomena, and has a pronounced fear of reptiles.
Miyuki's primary motivation is to uphold the law and protect the public. She takes her duties very seriously and is dedicated to her role as a traffic officer, often going out of her way to ensure that justice is served. Her technical genius is a key aspect of her character: she is an expert mechanic and computer specialist, frequently performing custom modifications on vehicles for her colleagues. Her most famous creation is her heavily modified Honda Today patrol car, which she has upgraded with a stroked engine, turbocharger, intercooler, and nitrous oxide system, making it exceptionally fast and maneuverable for pursuit. She is also an outstanding driver, almost as daring as Natsumi, and extremely difficult to shake in a chase. When physical force is required, she employs airsoft guns that fire paintball bullets, either to incapacitate opponents or to leave a homing beacon.
In the story, Miyuki serves as the calm, rational foil to Natsumi's brash energy. Their partnership is the emotional core of the series: despite their clashing personalities, they have developed a deep mutual trust and friendship, working together seamlessly to handle everything from traffic violations to serious criminal conspiracies. Miyuki's key relationships include her admiration and respect for the Traffic Division chief, whom she values for his dedication. Her romantic interest is fellow officer Ken Nakajima, though she has difficulty expressing her feelings and remains somewhat shy around him until later in the series. Throughout Full Throttle, Miyuki continues to grow as an officer, applying her forensic training and technical skills in more complex situations, while also learning to rely more on her partner and open up emotionally. Her abilities make her an indispensable asset to Bokuto Station, combining mechanical ingenuity, sharp intellect, and unwavering commitment to her work.
