Description
Caleb Stonewall, known as Fudou Akio in the original Japanese version, is a recurring character in the Inazuma Eleven anime and game series, first appearing during the second game's storyline. His background is rooted in a difficult childhood; his father was forced to resign from his job after taking the blame for a superior's failure, and subsequently left the family when Caleb was young. Following this, his mother told him to become powerful, advice he interpreted in a twisted manner, leading him to seek strength and join the shadowy coach Ray Dark.

Caleb is known for a harsh and aggressive personality, often making sarcastic and cynical remarks. He presents himself as cocky and self-serving, acting as though he does not care if his teammates get injured. He deliberately provokes others, using their pasts or insecurities to push them to their limits. However, this abrasive exterior is largely a front; his actions later in the story reveal that he does care for his team, proving himself to be a strong and trusted ally once he learns to work with others.

In the second season, Caleb is established as the captain of Royal Academy Redux, a team formed by Ray Dark in Ehime. He recruits players like David Samford and Joseph King, using forbidden techniques such as Emperor Penguin No. 1 in a match against the Inazuna Caravan. After his team fails to win, Ray Dark abandons him, calling him mediocre. Later, in the third season, Caleb is selected as a candidate for Inazuma Japan, the national team representing the country in the Football Frontier International tournament. In this role, he often starts matches on the bench, observing opponents before using his tactical mind on the field as a playmaker. It is during this arc that he begins to overcome his differences with teammates like Jude Sharp, eventually working together with him and David Samford to create the legendary three-person shooting technique Emperor Penguin No. 3 to symbolically break free from Ray Dark's influence. In the Inazuma Eleven GO series, Caleb returns as a member of the old Inazuma Japan team, later becoming the coach of Resistance Japan in Inazuma Eleven GO Galaxy, tasked with forming a team to defeat Inazuma Japan.

Key relationships in Caleb's development include his antagonistic yet ultimately cooperative bond with the strategic midfielder Jude Sharp, and his connection with Ray Dark, whom he initially follows for power but eventually rejects. His primary position on the field is midfielder, where his tactical acumen is considered on par with Jude Sharp. Among his notable hissatsu techniques are the defensive move Killer Slide, the combination move Killer Fields used with a teammate, and the powerful co-op shoot Emperor Penguin No. 3. Throughout the series, he demonstrates exceptional intelligence in analyzing opponents and devising strategies, solidifying his role as a tactical "joker" for his teams.
